And so ends Spring Break, my last one ever. What did I do? I went to Busch Gardens, a money-maker for a corporate brewery, disguised as innocent family fun -- and one of my all-time favorite amusement parks. Their rollercoasters aren't breaking all the records and their stage performances aren't exactly Broadway, but something about that place makes me giddy. Nostalgia, maybe? I used to go there on middle-school field trips and with my family when we were new to Florida. I've been to the one in Williamsburg once, but I was too young and too terrified of real rides. We went last Monday, a week ago, and there were no lines at all. We rode every coaster at least twice, once in the front row and once in the back row, except Scorpion (which we think was closed, but we wouldn't have ridden anyway) and Python (which we rode once, but it banged my head around too much.). Vertical corkscrews are killer for the petite. We spent $18 combined (13 of which were mine) winning a stuffed jack-in-the-box for me, not to mention the nifty souvenir bucket that the rings came in (for the give-me-five-bucks-and-you-can-pretend-that-you-might-be-able-to-toss-one-of-these-lil-red-rings-around-the-neck-of-one-of-these-bottles game). That night, after checking into our motel (the room, though designated non-smoking, reeked of cigarettes), we went to the mall and I bought shoes. I like shoes. For dinner we graced China First Buffet, the Super Walmart version of Gainesville's China Super Buffet, with our presence. We went to the park again on Tuesday free of charge (save for the pesky $7 parking fee), thanks to the awesome deal they're having until the end of April. There were more people that day, but the difference was hardly noticeable. We had just eaten all-you-can-eat soup, salad and bread at Red Lobster before returning to the park the second day. The clams in that chowder must have gotten dizzy riding Kumba three times. Whoooa... wait a minute... Why am I recounting all of this again? ::takes a moment, shakes her head, and goes to do something more productive::
