Here is my abuelita again. As I said before, she won't let you stop eating. When it's lunch or dinner time she fills the entire countertop with food. Food was the main concern I had before I left for Cuernavaca; I've heard of people going down to Mexico and getting really sick, so I was a little apprehensive. Plus I'm a vegetarian so I didn't know how well they would be able to accomodate me. It turns out that I probably miss the food now just as much as all the people!! |
Some evenings I would go out on the street and play soccer. There was usally some sort of game going on in the evening. Normally there were about six little guys, two or three teens and maybe an older guy or two. As it got later the kids would go home and the game would get more intense and focused. Pictured at right and below are the friends that I met playing soccer. |
One evening we met Juan at Cynthia's house. He was the brother of a boyfriend, and happened to be hanging out for a little while. It turned out that he spoke english and was a really good salsa dancer. We became quick friends and made plans to see him again for some dance classes. Ariel and I learned a lot!! Salsa is a lot of fun. Although it's kind of tricky to learn, it looks and feels really cool when you start to understand what you're doing. |
