Against All Odds
Chapter
Four:
"Good morning, honey, time to get up," I heard my mom
said. It was Saturday, the day after my 16th birthday.
"Belated Happy 16th Birthday, honey," I pulled out the
covers and slightly opened my eyes. Am I dreaming?
"Mom?"
"Hi,honey,"mom greeted me with a smile. Then, she
kissed my forehead. "Good morning."
"Mom!" I cried out. It's great to see my mother again.
"I missed you!" Then, I hugged her.
"Miss you, too, honey," Mom hugged me back. I'm not
dreaming. "Sorry, we're delayed for your birthday -- airport
sucks! We just got back from our business trip this 9 am."
"That's ok, mom, I'm glad you're here," I smiled.
"Thanks, Lizy," Mom smiled.
"What time is it?"
"11:30."
"Oh," I slept most of the time, huh? "Where's
dad?"
"He's on his way now."
"Where is he?"
"He's in our room."
"Oh," I smiled at mom.
"Oh, my daughter, 16, now a lady," mom giggled.
"Mom, stop that!" I joked.
Then, dad arrived upon the scene. "Belated Happy Birthday,
Sweetie. Sweet sixteen. My girl is now a lady," He also
kissed my forehead.
"Thanks, dad. Thanks, mom." I said with a laugh. My
parents were getting mushy at times but I'm glad they're back.
"It's just soo bad, we're not here yesterday to celebrate
it," Dad said.
"That's ok, dad, I understand. Atleast, you're both in here
now, safe and sound," I told them. I know that trip to San
Diego was a family business trip they were planning for years. My
dad's brother, Uncle Sam, invited them to see the land, my
grandpa left to them before he died. They were planning to do
something big on that hectares of land.
"Oh, how touching, dear," mom looked at dad.
"So, how was the party last night? Did my girl get to dance
with all of the boys?" dad asked.
"Clif!" my mom shrieked.
"No, i was just kidding," dad laughed.
"Well, it was fun. It's great!," I told them. I
remembered last night, the night I met Dave, I danced with him;
then here comes Jeremy,I almost lost my virginity to him, ruining
my night, I saw Dave but in the end I didn't get to see him. We
didn't even bid goodbye, then again, it turned out to be fine last
night.
"Well, it seems that Mrs. Roxwell did a great job on
cleaning the house," Mom figured. Mrs.Roxwell is our trusted
housekeeper. I remembered she had a duplicate and maybe she went
over to clean up all the mess I left behind. Thank God for Mrs.
Roxwell.
"Well, do you wanna eat?" dad asked.
"No," I replied. "I'm not yet hungry."
"Ok," Then mom and dad stood. "We're just
downstairs,ok? We're gonna eat."
"Ok."
Mom added, "By the way, Lizy, Mrs.Roxwell said Tracy and
Jeremy called."Then, they head downstairs.
I looked blank. Tracy. Jeremy-don't mind him.Then,no, Dave? I
slumped back on my bed and tossed the covers back to my face. I
suddenly remembered Tracy. Her prospect was Dave! Oh,my! My Dave!
Ohmigosh!
What am I gonna do?
