Against All Odds
Chapter 5:
By one
thirty, my telephone rang. I went over to answer it.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hello, Lizy, It's me, Tracy," I hear Tracy's jolly
voice.
"Oh, hi, Tracy," Why do I sound so unamazed?
"Did you just get your beauty sleep?" Tracy
enlightened.
"Me? Yeah, I had lots," I answered her.
"Anyway, I have something to tell you about that guy,
Dave," Tracy chimed on.
"Oh," I replied. DAVE...again. :(
"Anyway, I got his number last night!"
"You don't?" I asked with stony expression on my voice.
Dave giving out phone numbers?
"Yes, i do! You won't believe it but Mark gave it to me!!!
Haha!" Tracy giggled. I should have known. Dave looks like
the kind of guy who doesn't give out phone numbers that easily.
"Well, satisfied now?" I can only hear myself ask.
Tracy reacted. "Do I sound satisfied? Of course, not! My
next step is to get to know him better and we'll gonna hit it
off." I rolled my eyes.
"Tracy, again, you're insane," I told her. It would
never happen.Not with Dave.
"Oh,c'mon, Lizy, just wait and see. In time, we're gonna be
a couple. We could even double date. You & Jeremy, Me &
Dave," Tracy declared.
"Oh," Double date. I don't even like the sound of
that.:(
"Well," Tracy continued. "I heard from Mark, he
likes color blue."
BLUE! That's what I feel right now!I spaced out.
"Hello, earth to Lizy. Are you still there?"
"Uh,oh, yeah. Blue, that is, it's a great color. I like it.
You would look great in blue," I said. What am I saying?
"You think so?" Tracy asked.
"Oh, sure," I nodded.
"Well, from now on, I'm gonna wear something with blue. Just
so, Dave will notice," Tracy claimed.
"Oh." I created a monster here. Now, she's going to
wear his favorite color just so, to get his attention. Tracy got
it real bad.
"Well, anyway, I love to spend some time with him but it
seems that their family is always practicing their songs,Mark
said so, but I could maybe drop by some time to watch them
practice," Tracy blabbed.
"Oh," I could only say. The song.
"Don't you have anything more to say than 'oh'?"
"I'm sorry," I laughed. "Well, it seems that you
spent soo much time talking with Mark instead of Dave."
"Brrr...yeah, right!" I could see Tracy rolled her
eyes. Sarcasm was in her voice. "Oh, well, I gotta go. Mom
wants me to go to the mall. Wanna come?"
"No, thanks," I replied.
"Bye. Say hi to Jeremy from me," Tracy added.
Oh, Jeremy. She didn't know.
"Ok, bye," I could only hear myself speak.
