"Well, I can't believe you're really going out with him," Liza blabbed on the phone. Friday night finally did came and I was preparing myself for the night. I applied a small coat of lipgloss on my lips.
I laughed. "Hey, Liz, it's just for the night. I don't even expect it from the first place, right?"
"Yeah, right," I could picture Liza rolling her eyes.
I laughed again.
"Anyway, what are you wearing now?" she asked.
"Well, it's nice," I replied, looking at my light blue flowered sabrina top and white knee length skirt. "It's fine. Thanks for asking anyway."
"So, where are you guys going?" Liza asked, intrigued.
"I don't know. I have no idea."
She laughed. "Well, he didn't even gave you a clue? Wherever that is, it may be special."
"Maybe."
Ding-dong!
"Oh, I gotta go, maybe, it's him," I replied.
"Ok, you guys, have fun! Call me, ok? The girls and I will just go to Chiller's." Chiller's is the famous hang spot of the teens here.
"Ok," I answered. "Bye."
"Bye."
Then, we hang up. I slipped on my white thong sandals and minutes later, I was downstairs.
"Mom, gotta go."
"Ok, hon. Don't be too long."
Then, I opened the door. Half expecting what is he wearing.
"Hi, are you ready to go?" Ray smiled, showing his dimples. I'm glad that he's wearing a white shirt over dark blue jacket and brown khakis. He looks cute as ever.
"Hi, Ray. Yup, c'mon," I stepped outside, feeling reliefed.
He lead me on to his car. Wow! He opened the door for me and I sat inside.
"Thanks," I replied.
"No problemo,"then he walked to the other side of the car and sat next to me.
"Thanks for accepting my offer," he looked at me. "You look great."
"Thanks," I blushed. I can't handle anymore compliments.
"Oh, this is for you." He handed me a bouquet of pink tulips and a little teddy bear.
"Thanks," I smiled. How sweet of him.
"You're welcome," Then, he started the engine.
"You really know how to drive this thing?" I asked.
He smiled. "Yup. Trust me." Then, we hit the road.
"Where are we going anyway?"
"It's a surprise."
"Ok," I can't wait.
After almost 30 minutes of driving, we finally stopped on a place called Fellow Miniature Golf Course.
"So, this is where we are going?" I asked as we stepped outside his car.
"Yup, my uncle owns this place," he said looking at the lighted entrance of the golf course.
"Oh."
"You know how to golf?" he asked.
"Nah. I'm not an expert on that," I smiled.
"Well, me, too. That's why we're here. My uncle's going to teach us," Ray smiled at me. "We're going to have some fun, I hope."
"Oh- ok," I smiled a little. Our first date is on the golf course.
"Well, if it isn't my Ray," a pudgy looking man walked toward us.
"Hi, Uncle Taylor, this is my date, Leigh Fritzgerald," he said, he took my hands and squeezed it. "Leigh, Uncle Taylor."
Uncle Taylor looked at me and shook my hands. "Nice to meet you, pretty Leigh."
"Nice to meet you,too, Uncle Taylor," I blushed. I let go of Ray's hand.
"Call me, Tail." He smiled.
"Ok, Uncle Tail."
"C'mon, you're all welcome here. Let's get started. Have you eaten by the way?" he said as we walked.
I shyly looked at Ray.
Ray answered for me, "No, not yet."
"Oh, good to hear that. Well, I leave you guys first at the cabana, that way you can help yourselves with some steaks, grill and barbeques."
"Isn't that cool?" Ray winked at me.
"Sure," I smiled a little.
Uncle Tail led us to a comfy restaurant. There were tables and chairs set outside the greeneries. You can see the cool view of the lighted miniature golf course.
"Well, here we are. Help yourself, kiddos, first. Then, I'll be back when you're all done! Ray, you know how, ok? The price is on me," Uncle Tail smiled.
"Ok, thanks, Uncle," Ray replied. Then the old man walked to the other guests.
We sat at the table-set for two. There was a big umbrella strewn above us.
A waitress came and placed a menu. "May I take your orders, please."
Ray smiled at me. "Ladies, first."
"Uhm," I said, examining the menu. "I'll have the mashed potatoes and steak, please."
"Ok," the waitress scribbled.
"I'll have potato fries and the barbequed chicken, please," Ray answered.
"Ok," the waitress scribbled again. "Your orders will be here in a few minutes."
"Wow, your uncle really knows how to handle a place like this," I quipped, looking at the fancy looking threadmills at the side.
"Yup and it was nice of him to teach us how to golf for free," Ray answered.
I only smiled. I don't know what to say.
"So, how are you tonight?"
"I'm fine," I answered. "How about you, how's
football?"
"Well, it's not starting till next season," Ray answered knowingly. "I hope you could watch our play-offs."
"Ok, we-I mean, I always do," Oops, I almost mentioned 'we' Bob & I.
"I have something to tell you," he whispered, as he inched closer.
"What's that?"
"Well, I'm inspired by you, every game."
I blushed. "What?" I asked.
"I said I'm-"
Just as then our orders came.
He just smiled at me and we ate our food heartily.
After we finished our dinner, Uncle Tail walked by.
"So, did you guys enjoy your food?"
"Really, Uncle Tail," I smiled. "Thanks."
"So, are you all set to golf?" he asked.
"Ok," we looked at each other then we stood.
Ray stood right next to me. I think he's searching for my hand but I won't let him. I don't know but he keeps on turning his pace, so I let him hold my hand. I can feel that his hands were cold. I just squeezed his hand and smiled. We walked behind Uncle Tail.
After a few walks, we set on a miniature flamingo spot. Uncle Tail gave us some golf clubs. Then, he taught us how to swing sticks. I think I did great especially when I shoot a golf ball in a hole.
"You're great," Ray snided a remark.
"You're not bad, though," I looked at him.
Oh, well. This night turned out to be fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After 2 hours of golfing, we decided to give it a quits.We just decided to walk on the grounds then Uncle Tail left us. We thanked him for teaching us and he said it's always his pleasure.
Then, as we stroll along the path, we just smiled to each other when we saw an ice cream cart.
"Let's get some ice cream," Ray said, as if reading my mind.
"Ok."
We shared on a piece of mocha drumsticks and I think that's so sweet of him.
Then, we walked.
"I just wanna thank you for this night. You made me happy," Ray said as we finished our ice cream.
"Thank you, too," I smiled. "I enjoyed it, too."
"Leigh, I... I love you." he said.
I gasped. I don't know what to say.
Then, we stopped behind of a nearby miniature tree.
We looked at each other's eyes. He moved his head closer to mine. We closed our eyes.
Oh my, is he going to kiss me?I sighed a little. I became tense. I can feel his breath getting closer to mine, also his scent.
Tonk!!!
"Ouch!" he replied. I opened my eyes. What happened to the kiss? Nothing. We almost kiss. If that would happen, he could be my first real kiss? Aside from my friend Bob,I think his kiss is really different... I think it's just a friendly kiss the last night we did it. It was a mistake.
"Are you ok?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I'm fine, it's just that a stupid golf ball hitted me on my back. But I'm fine, really," he assured me.
"Hey! What are you kids doin' in there? Get out of the way or golf balls will come your way!" Someone shouted.
We moved to the sides. "Ok, sorry!" I shouted to no one in particular.
"Come on, it's gettin' late, I'll get you home," Ray told me. I can guess, he's ticked, we didn't get to kiss.
We said our goodbyes to Uncle Tail and we told him how much we have a lot of fun.
Then, we hit on the road again.
When we were at the front of my house, he stopped the engine.
"So, I guess this is it," Ray looked sad.
"Thanks again for a very wonderful night," I replied.
"Ok, maybe, let's do this again, next time," Ray continued.
"Ok," I just clutched the tulips and the teddy bear.
"So, bye," I moved to stepped outside his car.
"Leigh, wait," he held my hands and I stopped.
"Would you be my girl?" Then, he moved his head again to kiss me but the tulips and the teddy I was holding blocked him. But it didn't stop him, he moved it aside, he closed his eyes and I did, too and so, we kissed--a soft, sincere kiss on the lips.
Leigh, you're really kissing him! Your first real kiss! I told myself as I liplocked with him. "Sure, Ray." I answered absentmindedly. I squirmed on my seat as he seem to pull it down. Just go with the flow, girl! Someone told me inside.
I giggled a little as his kisses brushed against my lips. He stiffled a laugh, too. I guess it felt a little bit awkward between us. His hands moved to the side of my top. Just as then, the lights outside my house lit. So, I stopped.
I sat from the very exhilarating kiss. I just looked at him with dreamy eyes. "I gotta go. Good night, Ray." I picked up the stuffs he gave me and I went off.
"Ok, Leigh, you're now my girl," he finally said. "See yah."
He watched me till I entered our house, then, he drove off.
