I walked up to my room, feeling magical. I don't know how it happened but I know it went too fast. I am now Ray Mulik's girl. The girls are right. I should go out with him. I lay down on my bed and think. Oh, how I wish Bob would knew.
Bob!Uh-oh! For a minute there, I almost forgot about him.
Hmm. What is that guy up to these past few days? Does he still remember me? Cause we haven't talked for like 2 days now. I shrugged.
Well, there are better things to think about like... I smiled dreamily. That kiss, Ray and I shared.
But for a minute there, it doesn't seem so right to think about Ray. I am so...I don't know.
Oh, Bob. Why do you have to leave me this way? I thought. He should have called by now.
Rrrriiinnng!
I picked up the phone and said, "Hello?"
"Leigh, it's me."
Bob! Just my instinct.
"So, how are you?"
I straightened a little. "I'm fine."
"Really?"
"Really." Then, I sighed.
"What's that for?"
"Well, it's just that my best friend should have called me 2 or 3 days ago but it seems that he had forgotten," I blabbed.
"Leigh, I'm so sorry. You know how busy we are these past few days. Last night, we cranked up the bar near the town," Bob explained. "I mean, please try to understand. I'm so sorry. How could I make up to you?"
I sighed again. "Well, I understand but always remember that I'm..." I paused. "Psyche!"
I heard a furious sound at the other end of the line. Then, I laughed.
"Bob, you don't have to explain. I understand."
Bob laughed a little, I thought in a minute there, he's tensed.
"Anyway, how are you?"
"I'm fine." Silence.
"Well, I have news for you." I answered.
"What?"
"Well, remember Ray Mulik? The one you talked to me about?" I asked.
"Yeah, what about him? I mean, I know you guys went out. I called earlier but your mom said you're out with him."
"Well...." I paused, raising an eyebrow. "I see you've already heard about that."
"Yup," Bob replied calmly."Do I have to know something more?"
"Well..." I paused. "Actually, there is..."
"So, spill! My callcard's speeding up."
"We kissed."
Silence.
"Ok, ok," I laughed. "I don't know how to explain it but it happened really fast." I closed my eyes as if holding back the surprise.
"What?!" Bob, mortified.
"Ok, after tonight, Ray and I..." I bit my lip. "Ray and I are an officially a couple." There! I said atlast.
Silence.
"So, speak up! What can you say?" I asked Bob.
"Oh."
"Oh?" I repeated. "That's all you're going to say? That's all I heard from you? Oh?"
"Well, yeah," I can see Bob, raising his hands. "I mean, don't you think, it's kinda too fast?"
I sighed. "Yes but you're right about saying I should go out with him."
"He-llo? Is this Leigh, my best friend, ever since, I'm hearing?"
"Yeah, it's still me.Why?"
"I know I said go out with him, not to be his girlfriend," I can hear the sarcasm on his voice.
"But Bob, maybe it's just the same thing," I defended. "Cause, ok, we might have dated, but eventually it wll end like this."
I heard Bob sighed. "No, all of it doesn't end like this. You could have just atleast get to know him first."
"Oh, whatever!" I rolled my eyes. "This talking doesn't get us anywhere. Maybe I should just hang up. I'm really tired."
"No, wait, please!" Bob begged. "I'm sorry. It's just that, I don't really trust that guy."
"Well, you should have given him the benefit of the doubt. He's a really nice guy. He likes me, so I..." I paused.
"What?" he asked again.
"I don't know. I go for him," I found myself speaking.
I can see Bob squirmed. "Oh, Leigh. Just find out for yourself, ok?"
"Ok," I sighed, too. "I can sense something."
"What?"
"Your jealous."
"WHAT?!?"
I laughed. "I mean, Bob, you're my best friend, you're just too afraid to lose me, coz you know, we might never get to spend so much time together now. Am I right?"
"Huh? Leigh, you don't know what you're talking about. It's just like a week and there you are... BOOM! Out with a new guy?"
"I mean, deal with it."
Silence.
"I'd better go. Call you again sometime," Bob finished.
I smiled a little. "Ok, fine. Say my regards to the guys.Bye."
"Bye!"
Click!
He hang up on me. I just smiled and placed the receiver back on the phone. Well, if that's the way Bob likes it-he gets his way. So, I lay down again on the bed and reminisced the magical night before Bob called.
