Game Info
-One of the funnest multiplayer games on the N64 finally has a sequel.  It follows most of what the N64 version, and nothing much else.  I do believe, though, that the 2 person per kart idea was the best thing that they could have done to the series.

Gameplay: B+
The kart driving is almost identical to Mario Kart 64, except for the fact you don't jump when you try to slide.  There are two types of 1-player gameplay: grand prix and time trials.  There are a lot more grand prix tournaments this time, such as Special Cup.  Also, there are a lot more characters to choose from, new ones like Diddy Kong, Waluigi, Birdo, Daisy, Baby Mario, and Baby Bowser.  One player in the kart drives, while the other shoots the items.  It's not as difficult as it sounds.  The opponents in the grand prix are incredibly cheap, and almost always has the right item to kill you or speed past you.
Multiplayer has gone through a big change, though.  New Battle modes, Shine Thief and Bomb-omb Blast, have been added.  The best of the game in my opinion is the option to do co-op in grand prix and battle modes.  This is incredibly fun.

Graphics: B
Very smooth characters and non-detailed enviroments make up the game's graphics.  They are in no way bad, they look great and bright.
Framerate never drops, expectedly.

Sound: C
There are a ton of good themes that they could have used, but instead they used boring themes.  That's not to say there aren't any good tunes, because many tracks have some, but not a lot.

Challenge: C
The grand prix cups won't give you much of a challenge.  You may have to try a couple times to get a gold, but that's it.  Unlocking special characters and cups isn't that hard either.

Replay: B
Multiplayer can last indefinetley.  And co-op is always fun.

Overall: 84%
"A little too much like Mario Kart 64, but it's still fun.
