Mic's Comments 19th - 26th January 2004

Stayed in a twin room on the ground floor. Room 178.
Looking at the hotel from the street & facing the beach it is basically divided into 2 sections separated by the lobby, games rooms & restaurant located in the centre.

Rooms located on  the left either have a view of the Waterbom Park (if located at the front) or ponds, gardens, grassed area & pool if at the rear.

Rooms located on the right have a view of Kuta Centre (if  at the front of the hotel) or ponds & gardens at the rear.
These rooms are in a 4 storey block & the Villa is also located nearby.

There is a large grassed area & lots of  open space near the pool which is ideal for children to utilise.

From April this year rooms will be sold as separate ie.. Superior & Deluxe rooms.
Currently they are all sold as run of the house.

Superior rooms are located at the front of the hotel either overlooking Waterbom Park or Kuta Centre.
Exactly the same as the Deluxe Rooms minus the hairdryer & coffee maker.
All rooms now have in room safes installed.

Deluxe rooms are located at the rear of the hotel & overlook pond, gardens etc.
Some are on the poolside, others are not.
Equipped with hairdryer & coffee maker.

Rooms have been  renovated/improved  by painting, replacing airconditioners, new shower curtains, baths re-enamelled.
Currently work is being done on replacing lamps, headboards, & upgrading furniture in the Superior rooms.

Family rooms are in the process of being completed.
These are located on the ground floor at the front  along the driveway & to the  right  side of the hotel.
There is a step  down into a very large room with doors that open out onto what will be an adequate sized,  private patio area once the vegetation grows.
The rooms will have a larger free standing fridge, water container, a set of light table & chairs (which can be taken out to the patio area).
Some rooms will have a double bed & bunks others will have a double & 2 singles.
Single & bunk beds will be separated by a curtain.
One bathroom the same size as superior or deluxe rooms.

A restaurant is being built to the left of the entrance to the hotel & will be operated independently by successful restaurant people  already operating in Bali. Due to be completed  by May.

Other improvements on the agenda for this year:
A small ice cream/juice eatery/place to be built to the right of the hotel at the front.
Paths will be redone.
Steps & paths outside room 178 &  near pond to be done.
Pool area will be repaved (probably a lighter colour as it is currently dark & therefore hot underfoot).
Restaurant to be added near the pool at the back overlooking the beach.
Spa to be added which will be located underneath the current Lobby area.
Doors & area already there to be utilised  and entry is from near the current restaurant.

Most comments have already been made re the rooms etc.
My short comments:
Room service menu extensive & different.
Rooms & bathroom good.
Plumbing ok.
Cleaning staff a bit hit-and-miss. No major problems but attention to detail & remembering to provide toilet paper, hand towels, flannels, clean the outside areas & empty ashtrays each time they clean is always a bonus.
Have to say our pillows were thin lumps of concrete & the pillowslips smelled.

Overall it is a great hotel with improvements being made all the time.
Small issues like those mentioned above will certainly be rectified as time goes on and staff & management continue to communicate.

Thanks to Adrian (General Manager) for taking time out from his schedule to meet, talk  & have a beer.
Your hospitality was much appreciated.
