Superior Room 103

Superior Room 103

The indoor/outdoor bathroom in the Ubud Village was wonderful.

Virtually instant hot steamy water.Separate shower with good water pressure. The deep sunken bath was luxurious to soak in.

The wall from the handbasin allows some degree of privacy for 1 family member to go to the toilet while another person is having a bath or brushing their teeth.

The marble & stone features in this bathroom look very classy & the bathroom is quite spacious.I thought the plants added a nice touch also.

Fresh clean towels for each person as well as 2 hand towels are provided each day as well as a small bottle of shampoo & a small bottle of bath foam

The Verandah & Courtyard gives a feeling of spaciousness & privacy to the rooms.

There is a small table & 2 chairs on the verandah as well as a long wooden lounge. It's like having a separate outdoor living area where you can sit back & relax while enjoying a cold Bintang or a bottle of Hatten Rose bought from the supermarket opposite for only 44,000 rupiah !

There is good lighting for sitting on the verandah at night & the TV that is in the room can be seen when sitting on the outdoor lounge .

As far as I am concerned the superior rooms are way better than the deluxe.
Mainly because of the position, they are closer to the restaurant ,the pool, reception area & the street.

You only get a normal bath in the deluxe rooms not the lovely sunken bath we had !

You get absolutely no noise though in the superior rooms that are up the front. With your own little courtyard you could be a million miles away
from anywhere.

I had a good look around the hotel & grounds .The deluxe rooms/cottages & deluxe villas were right out the back - a long way from anything. They also looked less inviting to me.
There was no real view to the river out the back - the vegetation & other buildings blocked out any possible views.
Maybe if you were back in the middle a bit in the
upstairs
section you may get a view to the river.

There is building going on next door for a new hotel.
The new hotel next door which is supposed to be pretty upmarket when it is finished.

I felt that with the deluxe rooms & villas out the back that noise from the building site next door would filter through & disturb your tranquillity.

I would definitely stay at the Ubud village again ( in the Superior rooms up the front ) but I think I'd do just walk in rates again & not through a travel agent or online.
The advertised rates on their web pages are $70
US + 21% tax ( $84.70 US ) for just a double PLUS $6.00 US + 21% per person for breakfast ( $7.26 US per person )
In effect this would have worked out at $99.22 US for just 2 of us = $145.12 Aussie this excluded the fact that we had our son with us .

I vaguely remember the rates they had listed on the reception desk was $99 US including breakfast ( I didn't notice anything about extra charges for kids ) .All I did to get this great rate was tell them that we'd been
into the Pertiwi next door & that they'd offered us 500,000 rupiah.

We ended up bargaining them down to 506,000 rupiah a night for the 3 of us which included all taxes, service charges & breakfast. At the time this worked out to $76 Aussie a night .We were very happy with this -considering it was for 3 people ( with our son in a proper bed) with full cooked breakfast
We had everything we wanted in a room as well as a gorgeous bathroom & a lovely private courtyard as well.We also had good lighting in the room as
well as on the veranda .

The Ubud Village is close enough to easily walk into the markets, has a great little 24 hour supermarket almost opposite the hotel & many shops & restaurants very close by.It is just a little walk down Monkey forest
road from the oval.
It is just SO central to everything - yet isn't in the " dive"
category of some of the other central places we looked at.

Pertiwi was nice but we thought Ubud Village was a lot nicer & you are also not paying the high prices that they ask for at the Komenka.

Overall I can easily sum up what we thought of the Ubud Village - We loved it !

Before we went - we wanted something really close to town,no big walk up hills,TV ,fridge & air con.
I also really like a ground floor room - not only for convenience for our son re the pool etc but also for the fact that I have crook knees & a bit of a bad back.

After we arrived in Ubud we spent a long time looking at quite a few places & some of them were total dives or you needed to have the climbing ability of a mountain goat to get to your room. !
Hope this info is useful
