Visa Goth Suit | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ahh the Visa Goth suit. how much work you were. This suit was a work of catharsis. Made in the summer right after my ex and I parted company (a wise decission, I applaud her for being the one strong enough to do it, I was to comfy with the stasis) I made this suit to be the most art intensive suit i'd ever made thus far. (and it still is, though not for long) The summer spent trying to re-establish a purpose for my life while counting the days go by at Corydon ranch created this suit. got to wear and fight in it during a few summer events including pennsic 30 I believe. Then, since i hadnt yet figured out I belonged back in college, my belly made me sell it. unemployment not that great. This is also the first suit that starts to incorporate artwork penned by my own hand and modified traditional designs from my copyright free art books. gotta love the copyright free stuff. damn intellectual property rights bastards. ideas cannot be owned, the word itself meanse divine inspiration. consider that next time you have a great Idea. coinsider how it came to your brain. ;) anyways the breastplate has a dragon and serpent wrestling for dominance, theres a turkish phoenix flanking the sides of the upper breastplate, the rear tassets has a coiled serpent (there was to be more but time was running short) and the archangel Michael subdoing that beastman. I love symbolism. anyways of note theres some great design work on the elbows which you cant really see. another thing to note: while I generaly love fiebings dyes, (specialy since their wharehouse is about 5 miles from my apartment) the nonprofessional series dyes seem to have some issues with UV exposure. you can see on the pauldrons which took the brunt of the sun (as i left it out in the sun all week long during pennsic) where the blue dye started bleaching away to reveal the natural brown leather color underneath. bah. it also turned out a much darker blue then expected. light blue my ass. (it was supposed to be split blue/black)though also of note: get an airbrush. ive got one now, much better, and cut dyes with rubbing alcohol. ;) -Joe |
