1988 Honda NSR50/100R SP
Here is my favorite mini bike!!!  It's a 1988 Honda NSR50 painted by me and my dad in 2001 GP Repsol YPF colors.  The Honda NSR50 was built to compete against the Yamaha YSR50. Physical dimensions are virtually identical (12" wheels, etc). Unfortunately Honda never imported the NSR into the USA. This then stock NSR50 spent part of it's early life in Japan for almost 10 years, before it was one of the lucky ones to be picked to ride on streets of America!! I remeber that summer of 1997, I worked very hard savinig up. The NSR was expensive and was almost double the cost of a well equipped Yamaha YSR50. After a long wait, my NSR finally came in and after the first ride, I knew my money was well spent!! It's power and handling was too unreal for just a 50! For some reason it beat my YSR in every way! Well after a about a year of street riding I felt the need for even more power! Unfortuantly, Honda never made the NSR mini in SP (Sport Production) trim like the full size NSR250s, so I decided that it would be fun to build my NSR mini up to SP specs!!
First on the list of modifications was to find a NSR80 motor. Honda made very few NSR80s, so finding an engine was almost impossible, but I got really lucky and one was located. The engine was totally torn apart, inspected, and rebuit with performance modifications to the crankcase and cylinder. A Kitaco 100cc bore up kit and Jha Carbon kevlar full race chamber helped top off the engine. Due to Geocities, the size of my webpage is limited so not much pics can be posted here. Luckily, my good friend Jamie featured my bike on his NSR mini webpage. Check it out! Also you can learn more about the history of the NSR50/80 and the many different colors that were avaiable back then!

Jamie's NSR Mini bike page is now officially open! Read more about my NSR100 SP in the "Custom Bikes" section!!!!! Check it out at www.dreamgate.ne.jp/mini
