Kiss's Page

Kiss is a four year old, spayed female, German Shorthaired Pointer.  She was adopted in May 2001.  She was a rescue dog, which means that she had been surrendered by her previous owners to an animal shelter.  In Kiss's case, she had been surrendered more than once.  The animal shelter, no longer able to keep Kiss and knowing that she was a pure-breed GSP, called Lazy Hearts Kennel where we adopted her.  It took her a few months to warm up to us.  Under the circumstances I don't blame her.  Finally, she decided she'd keep us.  She loves to play ball and would play all day if possible.  She is also a tireless bird hunter.

Kiss is such a pretty girl.  She always lays down like a lady with her front legs crossed.  She has so much energy that she runs me ragged.  She will hunt and play ball until she is exhausted.  She busts through brush like there is no tomorrow.  She loves to hunt and gets angry with us when we go deer hunting without her.  She and Seth hunt birds as often as possible while the season is open.

There was a pine tree in our front yard.  For some reason the birds liked it.  Kiss likes the birds.  She would point the tree until she drove me crazy.  She also tried to climb the tree.  Sometimes I pity the birds!  Now she points the birds as they fly around the other trees.  Kiss is also an escape artist.  A six foot chain link with a mesh top poses no problems for her.  Think that a dog climbing a fence sounds funny?  Try actually seeing it!

While I was outside watching the dogs play this winter, I decided to see what Kiss would do with snowballs.  She retrieves them!  If I can make them compact enough not to come apart when they land, she'll find them and bring them back to me.  Another amusing sight.  Kiss and her antics provide me with many laughs.  It's a good thing that she has lots of antics to cover some of the other things she does.  This tireless, hyper, fun-loving girl has become an important part of the family.
