The summer show season is the one usually most looked forward to by members, and not just because it is summer holidays! 4-H members spend the year selecting, training, and preparing their calves for the show. In order to train a calf the member must work with it consistently, at least once a week.

Training your calf to walk with you, pose and to be calm in the ring takes time and care. Before heading into any class you have to groom you calf so it looks presentable and to help show her characteristics off.

In Showmanship classes the member is judged on their ability to handle their animals properly and will be asked questions about the animal and it's background. (Ie. sire, dam, etc.)

Prizes are awarded in the Danish system - a first place performance, a second, or a third, so that everyone receives a ribbon.  Then a Grand Champion and Reserve Champion are decided for each class.

Our club attends the Maple Ridge Fair, where members take part in their achievement day activities along with showmanship and calf placing classes, the Abbotsford Agri Fair, the Chilliwack Fair, the Inter Provincial Exhibtion (IPE) in Armstrong, BC and then to end off the showing season with the Agassiz Fall Fair.
