×Tips On Judging Dairy Cattle×

When jugding any judging class you need to be able to picture the "ideal" in your mind so that you can make your placings around what the breed/type is needed for.
Some things to look for in a dairy cow/heifer are:
General Appearnce:
-Top tine should be straight from shoulders to tail, the lion broad & strong, the rump long & level
-The pin bones should be wide apart & level to slightly than hips
- The rump is VERY important because it is the framework which holds the udder!

Dairy Character:
-Implies ability to produce large quantities of milk
-Withers should be prominent
-Ribs should be long, flat & open (open-ribbed means ribs are wide-apart)
-On a good dairy cow you should be able to fit 3 fingers between the last 2 ribs!
