Resolution AGC 2005/001 No copyright infringement intended, no money is being made, everything you do not recognise is mine, although that is going to be hard to decide in this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forum: Atlantis General Convention Question of: Status of nationality Submitted by: missmcweir -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Atlantis General Convention, Regretting the established diversities of nationalities and ranks, which render understanding of structures of organisation near to impossible for non- acquainted; Deeply disturbed by the gaps forming within the personnel because of varying nationalites, Calling out to hinder all forms of estrangement in it’s beginning; Noting the importance of different groups as a means of identification; but Further noting the hindering qualities of Earth nationalities, when set in an intergalactic frame, to combine individuals to one group; Pointing out the obvious need for a common nationality as a means of identification, unification and simplification; Reminding every member of this assembly of one task of this operation, namely the establishment of diplomatic relations and alliances throughout the galaxies; Declaring the nationality a matter of relativity of space, as illustrated by the different grades of local identification distinguished on earth (number, street, suburb, town, region, country, nation, continent, etc.); and thereby Reinforcing the need to build up a new level based on the all to recent implementation of interstellar and intergalactic travel; Further pointing out the need to remain focused on one addressable location; Remembering the great heritage we chose to follow, and our ancestors knowledge, development, culture and language; and consequentially Recommending the use of an ancient term; 1. Requests to adopt the term“Tau’ri” as common nationality of all earth-based off-world personnel when in this function, 2. Suggests the use of the symbol as seen on the “Earth- Chevron” as the official seal and symbol, 3. Further suggests the adoption of a golden “Earth- Chevron” placed over the pictographic image of earth on a white ground to be implemented as official Tau’ri flag, or any other symbolic combination able to represent our home world as a whole, 4. Urges authorities to abolish all nationality emblems, which are consequently to be replaced by the new Tau’ri flag, 5. Points out that as a means of simplification, military ranks should be refined to the pure rank without addition of the military organisation the individual is serving in. Return to Pegasus |
