Wysteria!

Ok so you have your new ponies but it is isn't exactly in mint condition but you don't want to completly ruin your pony either, how do you clean them?
Actually it isn't hard at all, just follow a few simple steps
.

The Body
Wet the pony and it's hair. Grab an old toothbrush and put Soft Scrubb & hand soap on it. Using circlular motions scrub the entire body gently. Go easy around Twinkle-Eyes & symbols, especially if they are glittery.
At all costs do
not get water inside Brush 'n Grows since the mechanism inside is metal. Also do not get water on BBE babies eyes as they too can rust easily.
Try not to get any water inside your pony as it can mildew your pony if not dried completely.

The Hair
Straight haired ponies
Drench your ponies hair in warm water
Use a dime sized amount of good quality shampoo, baby shampoo also works well. Work into hair to get a good lather going. Rinse, repeat if neccesary.
Note: When looking for shampoos and conditioners to use on my ponies I try to stick with ones that smell like that original pony smell.
Use a dime sized amount of good quality conditioner. Work it into ponies hair paying special attention to the ends if there is a frizz problem.
Comb threw ponies hair while conditioner is freshly applied to make sure you get it completely covering hair.
Do not tug on the hair as you will create a frizz problem.
Let the conditioner set for about 20 min, more time is better. Some people including myself, leave the conditioner in the pony's hair. This method will not leave the pony's hair greasy, it actually leaves it incredably soft! If you do decide to leave the conditioner in then make sure to get any conditioner off the pony's body. You can rinse it though if you like, it's up to you.
Wrap the forlock around the muzzle, mane around the neck, tail around a hind leg to get the cute curl.
Let the ponies set overnight or however long it takes to dry completely. Come back and brush threw your ponies beautiful hair and your done!

Note: To avoid frizz keep from brushing their hair while it is dry as much as possible because it pulls and stretches the hair as you brush it.
Curly Haired Ponies
I use the same method as used above with a few added steps, it is easier to have a friend help with this too. After you are done rinsing the conditioner out and brushing threw the wet hair you can use either foam curlers (these don't use heat to curl), or a straw. Wrap the desired amount of hair around what you are using to curl and clip it with bobby pins to hold it in place. Then walk away and let the curling device do the work for you. Let them sit overnight and when you come back to them the next morning they should have gorgious curls in there hair! Don't brush threw them!  If anything shake the curl out just a little, remember as with your own hair the curls will relax over time. You can create a great curled look for your ponies using your hands to shape their hair.
This technique is what most people will use on Raincurls, Candy Canes, and those types of ponies.
For ponies that still retain their factory curl it's best not to wash it unless it's absolutely necessary. If you must wash factory curled hair then use warm but not hot water, you won't lose as much this way.

So Softs
To clean So-Softs you need to first soak them under a higher pressure faucet. I use my bathtub for this, it has plenty of pressure.
Get your toothbrush and a bar of soap, I use Dove Nutrium for this since I have found that it doesn't discolor my so-soft ponies. I have also found that on these types of ponies bar soap actually works better then hand soap.
Work the soap into a good lather on the flock, don't press too hard on these ponies though since it can cause an un-wanted rub. In fact I don't use really any pressure at all.
Let the soap sit for a minute to get threwout the flock. Rinse clean.
Some people use Oxy Clean on So-Softs but I have not tried this technique.
When you get to the ponies hair use the usual method and let the conditioner set on the flock as well as the hair but make sure to rinse it out completely!
