Chapter meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.  Meetings begin at 7:30 to socialize before any speakers begin at 8:00.  Hosts provide their home and beverages; members are asked to bring snacks.  Discreet nursing infants are welcome at all meetings.  Please note that prospective members may attend up to three chapter meetings prior to joining; playgroups and other activities are members-only events.

Chapter Meetings

February 11th – Things We Love:
In this week of love known as Valentine’s Day, let’s take a note of inspiration from Oprah Winfrey.  She does a show 2x a year called Your Favorite Things where she displays and gives away to each member of the audience each item she has on her favorite things list.  So to this meeting bring, share or just let other folks know about some of your favorite things.  What did you discover that you just love? For example: someone might share that her favorite brand of candle is Votivo because they have wonderful scents and last forever and they are expensive and, to her, are worth it. Or that your favorite chocolate chip cookie comes from a bakery on the Upper Westside (Levain's and they have a website). Who knows - you may even have a couple of cookies in your pocket for sampling!  The favorite things can be stores, things, places to go, etc..... no limit.  Come and tell us what you love and learn some interesting finds from others.

February 25th – Perspectives and Advice if You or Someone Else Thinks Your Child Has Trouble in School: Whether happening to a preschooler or to a child of elementary or middle school age, when school difficulties arise they are scary for child and for parent alike and put stress on the entire family.  A local school’s learning specialist will be present to share her thoughts on this matter as well as fellow members to share their stories.  This is a meeting to attend and tuck away the information gleaned for perhaps some other time down the road.

March 10th – Summer Camps, Summer Activities, Summer Planning:
Be ahead of the game this year and share the choices that abound for your child come the hazy, lazy days.  We are holding this meeting with the first breezes of spring in the air so that you moms can get a head start on taking advantage of summer opportunities.

March 24th – April’s Fool And All Year Too: How To Be A Playful Parent: With April Fool’s Day around the corner, we were inspired to host a meeting on getting in touch with one’s goofy side.  Does it get harder to be playful as children mature?  Does it get harder to draw the line at acceptable levels of silliness?  Should there be a line at all?  We’ll have loads of ideas for a wide age range and want to hear your thoughts and ideas as well.

Special Events

SPECIAL INTEREST MEETINGS

BOOK CLUB
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30.

MOMS 40+
Are you a mom in your later 30s or 40s?  Then join the only playgroup organized according to the ages of the moms!  We meet every other Wednesday at 1:30 PM.

SEASONED MOMS
Ever wonder what really goes on at Seasoned Moms meetings?  Basically, we drink a lot of coffee and discuss the trials and tribulations of raising school-age children.  Every topic under the sun is fair game.  We've discussed school sports, fundraisers, bullying, homework, methods of tick removal, Santa Claus, and the birds and the bees - sometimes all at one meeting!  So send the grade-schoolers off to class and join us as we begin our third year as a group.  Meetings are from 9:30 - 11:30.  We vary the day of the week each month to accommodate busy schedules.  Younger siblings are always welcome.

SCRAPBOOK CLUB
This club provides fellow croppers (and newbie croppers) time away to work on their scrapbooks.  We meet twice per month on Monday nights at 7:30 pm.  This club is not limited to people who already have been cropping.  If you are interested and have never cropped before, please join us.  You should bring your cropping tools (paper, cutters, adhesive, etc.) with you.
