Tips: If you have Windows XP always make sure that software is digitally signed (old drivers for a older operating system) or your computer may crash or there might be problems with your computer. (believe me. I've done it.) It's always good to have frequent backups on your computer in case of crashing. It can really come in handy.

Downloads: A good place to find downloads are www.downloads.com and www.microsoft.com/downloads. I highly recommend www.microsoft.com because they have updates, demos, and support that I would not know. Another website you can downloads off on for CDs and DVDs are www.nero.com. Here you can download a demo of the latest burning software and updates. Also another good website for downloads, tips, and lots more go to www.g4techtv.com  and use the search for what you want.

Modifying Your Computer: If your about to open your computer for the 1st time, refer to the owners Manuel for opening instructions, because you might break something important inside the computer. When installing new hardware make sure you don't have any static on you because you might destroy the hardware like a hard drive.

Before you buy: Before you buy something for your computer, ALWAYS make sure that it's compatible with everything that your computer has. It's mostly better to have the suggested requirements for a game or expensive hardware. For games, it's always a must to get a game that suites your computer like don't get a game that says you need to have 500Mhz in your computer and you only have 533. The game will work horrible and might mess up your computer!

Fixes: If something is wrong with your computer the best thing for it is to contact the provider. If you want you could give me info on you computer model number things like that I can find out something for you.

Building your own computer: If you one day want to make your computer I have some instructions on how to. 1st you must get all the components. They are... the motherboard, the PC case, the processor, the floppy drive, the CD drive, the hard drive, the keyboard, the mouse, the RAM, the power supply, and the cables. When building a computer, ALWAYS make sure EVERYTHING is compatible with each other! If not something could go terribly wrong. Here is a list of cheap and compatible components. (remember that you can just type this in to a online store to buy like www.newegg.com or www.zipzoomfly.com.) Also read info and manuals on this subject. (Always use ATX power supply and ATX computer cases) Here are the links to build my new computer for $622.40. This is a complete system with monitor and everything. You just have to put it together and install Windows XP.  #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #10 #11. You would save about $100 to $200 dollars depending on the system. The computer specs are 80GB 7,200RPM hard drive, 512MB RAM, AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor, Sony CD Burner, ASUS A7V400-MX motherboard, and a slick ATX case. This is a very fast computer and it should last longer than store bought computers.

Networking: If you want to start a home or office network here are some pointers and hardware you need to buy. 1st determine what you want to do with your network like multiplayer games or file and printer sharing. To start a cheap and easy network 1st get a router or a switch. (Note this is NOT wireless!) Do not get a hub! They are poor in quality, are extremely slow, and have frequent data crashes! 2nd get a 10/100 Mbps router or switch. I have a switch. 3rd have Windows XP Home or Pro to be the easiest and fastest possible. 4th get Ethernet cables for each computer. 5th have a networking card in each computer. To add high speed internet just plug the Ethernet cable in to the switch. You could get this at your local computer store or online. Once you have done that you need to setup on the software side for all computers. Automatically Windows XP will give you an I.P address trough TCP/IP when it is 1st connected. If you just going to play multiplayer games that's all you need to do. (Make sure you have two different copies of the same game otherwise they will cancel each other out and you will not be able to play but doesn't go for demos.) Before anything make sure you go to the Windows XP network wizard. To set up file and printer sharing you 1st need to go to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right click on Local Area Connection to properties. Then click on single click on File and printer for Microsoft Networks. Then wile it's still highlighted below click install then a screen will come up and you click on service. Then another screen will pop up and click o.k. Then you click on start, My network places on the start menu then you see every thing on your network. (Note you have to do this for every computer on the network) To setup a shared printer 1st you go to the computer that the printer is on and you click on start, Control Panel, Printers and faxes. Then you right click on the printer and click on sharing. On the screen that comes up click share this printer and o.k. Then on the other computers go to the Control Panel, Printers and faxes and on the left there's a tool bar and click on add printer. Then just follow the wizard and your done!
