The reading group has once again challenged its members to broaden their reading materials.  They have read a classic, Catcher in the Rye,  a book made into a blockbuster movie, Memoirs of a Geisha,  a book about motherhood, The Price of Motherhood: Why the Most Important Job in the World is Still the Least Valued, and a humorous book about learning to love yourself, Good In Bed.

The cooking group is as busy as always by sending away its members with some great recipes and awesome ideas.  They've talked about great make-ahead recipes, how to spice up chicken breasts, desserts, and fish.  They also had a cookie exchange and soup exchange.  What great cooking!

The MOMS Night Out group has been coming up with some great ways to get out without the children.  We've enjoyed Mexican, Italian, American, and Japanese restaurants.  Not to mention the jazz music, festival of trees, and theatre productions we've attended.

The kids' activities have kept busy all year too.  We’ve watched the leaves change on the nature trails, visited pumpkin patches, visited a horse stable, and trick or treated together.  They also toured a pet store, a Target store, a donut store, the Humane Society, an ice cream shop, a flower nursery, watched the bees make honey, and saw how trees make syrup.  They went bowling, sledding, enjoyed a puppet show, explored the zoo, and spent lots of time playing at the
Rec Centers and indoor play areas that are scattered around our area.  We’ve also spent the summer splashing around at pools and splash pads and enjoying the numerous parks in Cedar Rapids.  We also had a blast at our "special" parties that are held every few months.

In addition to these groups we have others just waiting for a member to get them started.  So think about how you would like to get involved!
