MONZA GT REGISTRY
WELCOME H07 FANS! GM built the H07 body from 1975-80, and
it has enjoyed a great run of success in roadracing,
dragracing, and many other forms of autoracing. Even today,
H07's can be seen racing and WINNING!!. Vintage racing is the main attraction for restored roadracing monzas, but there are a few still slugging it out in SCCA and NASA race groups. Since my #1 passion is roadracing(especially endurance racing), I will focus on the history of the roadracing GM Hbody. If you roadrace a GM H-Body 1975-80
Chevrolet Monza, Buick Skyhawk, Oldsmobile Starfire, Pontiac Sunbird, or even a Chevrolet vega and would like to join the registry, please
E-mail me... HERE
All forms of roadracing are welcomed; IMSA, SCCA, FIA, Etc.
This is also the home of JSRT, my SCCA GT-1 Chevy Monza race team. Check back periodicaly for my race reports(3/6/99).
I will also be including H-body racing collectables and other interesting item's. Send me a picture of your favorite H-body collectable!
Vintage Roadracing Today!!!
No championships were won by the H07 racers, but Tuck Thomas finished 2nd in points in both 1978 and 1979. In 1980, the rules were changed to a single class series. Basically Cat.I cars, the series saw a new growth in entries, and more H07 entries as well.
Only three victories were claimed by H07 racers. 1978 Saw Tuck Thomas winning at Portland and Jerry Hansen at Brainerd. Both were CAT.II cars. 1980 saw Mark Pielsticker winning at Portland with the new, single class car.
By 1982, H07's were nothing more than backmarkers in the ever advancing technology of T/A racing. Because of the five-year model rule in the T/A, H07's were illegal after the 1986 season.

SCCA Club Racing
Today you can still see a few H07 racers out there, although the GT class H07's are now restored for vintage racing. A restored DeKon Monza can fetch $100K+ today, so to see one in club racing is extremely rare.
Several regional and national championships have been won by H07 racers, although a national run-offs championship never materialized.

Today H07's are still active in New Zealand (GT and Dirt Oval), and South America (GT).
Nigel Ross currently races a monza in New Zealand in the Limited-Production Dirt track oval series.
