Our Chalet

OUR CHALET - Nestled in the alpine region of Adelboden, Switzerland, Our Our ChaletChalet is the oldest of the WAGGGS Centers. Since it's opening in 1932, thousands of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides have traveled here, to partake in the splendor of outdoor wealth that the location provides. The campus accommodates approximately 100 people and is made up of three residential buildings - the main chalet, little chalet and squirrel house, Stolki (a smaller chalet), Spycher (for meetings and seminars), and indoor and outdoor camping facilities.
Year round activities abound for outdoor enthusiasts, including hiking, mountain climbing, skiing and snowboarding. It is situated in the alps of the Bernese Oberland, but close enough to allow for siteseeing to local towns and cities of Switzerland.

OUR CABANA - Amid the tropical gardens of Cuernavaca, Mexico, Our Cabaņa has welcomed over 65,000Our Cabaņa girls since it's founding in 1957. The compound is situated on five acres of land on which eight dormitories serve as the primary residence for guests during their stays. Lush gardens are scattered throughout, beckoning scouts to relax and reflect.
The programs at Our Cabaņa emphasize the culture aspects of the area, and usually revolve around a central theme or festival. Girls are encouraged to explore international friendship, understanding and teamwork through community service projects, handicrafts, music and dancing, sightseeing to historical places and shopping trips.

PAX LODGE - This 1990 structure is often referred to as one of the newest of the World Centers. The current Pax Lodgelocation of Pax Lodge is the third site of a World Center in London, England. The first was Our Ark, which opened in 1939. Twenty years later, the need for more space increased, and it was moved to a new location and renamed Olave House. Again, pleas for additional facilities was heard, and resulted in the development of Pax Lodge. Today, approximately sixty guests are accommodated on a daily basis at the dormitory styled facility.
Programs have been developed that center around the rich history of England, the roots of Girl Guiding/Scouting, and current topics, including woman's issues, disabilities and the environment. Guests are able to travel to nearby locales of England's history, take in the some of the theater for which London has become famous, or visit the shopping district.

SANGAM - The baby of the World Centers opened in 1996 in Pune, India. The main courtyard, poolSangam and fountain are surround by the living quarters, dining hall and program buildings that reflect a modern architectural design. Campgrounds, gardens and parade areas line the perimeter of the area, providing plenty of space to carry out programs.
The name, "Sangam", stems from a term meaning "getting together." This has become the basis of the program at this World Center. Events are organized that unite various cultures, as guests share and exchange traditions and knowledge of their homelands. Local heritage is explored through the culture of India family lifestyles, religions, the arts, dining, sightseeing, and shopping at local bazaars, as well as service opportunities in nearby urban and rural communities.
