Hotaru in a Nutshell
Hotaru was considered a weird child and didn't
make any friends until she met Rini. Rini was her first real friend, no matter what anyone
said. Her father loved her dearly, so dearly that he sold his life to save hers. There was
a explosion in the lab where her father worked and Hotaru was caught in the explosion. Her
father bargained and sold his soul to save her life. They didn't say anything about
Hotaru's mother, but I'm guessing she died and that's why Hotaru's father loves her so
much more. Amara and Michelle wanted to kill her, suspecting she was the destroyer of
the earth. Trista wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to kill anyone, but wanted to
save earth, too. Uranus and Neptune don't want Sailor Saturn to awaken, because the earth
will then be covered in darkness. They are shocked, literally, when it turns out that
Hotaru is really possessed by Mistress 9, and is trying to awaken her master, Pharaoh 90.
Hotaru doesn't know anything about her past. At the end of the Sailor Moon S series, she
turns back into a baby and is cared for by Trista, otherwise known as Setsuna or Sailor
Pluto.
