Behind the Site
I've gotten a lot of questions about how I put this site together and about how much time I spend on it and so forth. I thought about answering all those questions under the other FAQ page, but it just doesn't quite fit, which is why we have this page, entitled FAQ-Behind the Site.

How did you start webdesigning?

I started webdesigning about four years ago, when I had one of the worst sites on the web. It was truly awful. I called it Sailor Moon World, after going titleless for several months. I was about 10 when I made it and it was one of those sites with a huge picture and a background to serve as a
layout. I think I had maybe 8 pages on it, some profiles, a You Know You Love Sailor Moon Too Much When..., Intro to Sailor Moon and image galleries and that was it. I got a review from DayDream Graphics with some very helpful information, which led me to further investigate other websites. I found some html sites that taught me a trick or two and I got so into it, I just became completely dedicated.

How did you come up with this site?

As stated above, I started with Sailor Moon World and that lasted for two years. The summer of sixth grade I got tired of my awful site and I spent all summer creating Moonlit Dreams. I poured my heart and soul into it and every waking moment was spent on my site. The only things I brought over from Sailor Moon World were some information from the profiles, the You Know You Love Sailor Moon Too Much When... and part of the Intro to Sailor Moon. Everything else I recreated. Over the past two years, I've been adding onto this site bit by bit to make it what it is today.

How did you come up with the site title?

For some reason, I've always had this envision of a very elegant site with beautiful pictures, therefore I needed an elegant name. I thought about naming my site Blue Crystal (too general I later decided), Black Eyes & Blue Tears (from a favorite Shania Twain song of mine), Graceful Beauty (too corny for me), and Angel Eyes (I adored this name and I almost did name my site Angel Eyes, but I later decided rather sadly that no one would be able to tell this was a Sailor Moon site from that title. My newly created and under construction personal site is named that, though.) It came down to Moonlit Dreams and Crescent Beam Corner. CBC was a cute title, but I wanted my site to be more elegant than cute. Moonlit Dreams fit perfectly, since it had the Moon for Sailor Moon in the title but it was also kind of dreamy and if you knew me at all, you'd know that I'm the type of person who LOVES to daydream.

How did you get the ideas for all this creative content? How can I come up with creative stuff, too?

Well, first off, thank you! I'm glad you think it's creative. Originally, I started out with the usual stuff, the profiles, image galleries, and stuff. Later, I expanded into fanfics, which led into the Dear Sailor Moon section, and my image galleries turned into the fashion show, angel pictures and funny faces gallery. Basically, I just took all the normal things and twisted them a little bit. If you want something fresh and creative, I'd reccomend just surfing around and looking at other sites for inspiration. Find something you like and think about how you could twist it a little. You should also think about what types of things you'd like to see in a site, and put them in your own!

How long have you been designing? How long did you spend creating you site?

I have been designing sites for about six years now. I can't remember exactly when I started, but I remember it was before my 10th birthday. Moonlit Dreams is two years old as of August 20th of 2003. I work on my site at least five hours a week and pretty much every waking moment in the summertime.

Did you get help for your site? From where?

My mom started me off, showing me the software and some other Sailor Moon sites, but I took it into my own hands to create my site. Castle in the Sky truly inspired me and so did several other sites (most are on my links page). All of my html knowledge and javascript knowledge is pretty much self-taught and I learned it through research on the internet and in the library.

What originally attracted you to Sailor Moon?

One day during the summertime when I was eight or nine (right before fourth grade, I think), I was really bored and I just started flipping through the TV channels. I came across Toonami (which I had always considered a boys-TV-shows-only kind of program) on Cartoon Network and I found Sailor Moon. It was one of the early episodes, where Jadeite interferes with Molly and Serena's plans to go to the fair. I fell in love with it and started watching daily. Later that summer, my mom showed me Sailor Moon sites on the internet and I was so fascinated, I just had to create my own. There's something magical about Sailor Moon that I just can't quite put my finger on.

Do you create your own images and layouts?

When I first started my website, I saved tons and tons of pictures from the internet. I now have no idea where they came from and I have quite an archive. I take these pictures and alter them and spruce them up a bit so I guess you could say I help to create my own images. All the images in my image gallery are free-for-all sort of pictures. My first two layouts were from DayDream Graphics and Ciara's Graphics, respectively, but once I finally made a layout that I was truly happy with, I
decided I would make my own layouts from then on. I have created another layout for my collective blog, Angel Eyes. (Mind you, it is in the testing stage and under heavy construction. If you want me to finish the site, e-mail me and give me kick start!)
