Living Pagan

What does it mean to "live pagan"?

To me, it means living my beliefs to the best of my abilities, in a society that often frowns on things that are "different" from the "norm".
It means being faithful to myself and my gods, no matter how others might view me because of it.
It means performing rituals and ceremonies in parks, and other public places in a large city, because there is no where else I can go to "be with nature".
It means all this, and much much more...

Living a pagan lifestyle today is both easier and harder than many people think it is. There is no requirement for elaborate ritual, and certainly no expectation, even among covens for the harm or other living beings (eg. animal sacrifice is NOT a practice that modern pagans condone, and human sacrifice is absolutely not practiced. Pagan does not equate to Satanist), as a matter of fact, many pagans are vegetarians, believing that animals shouldn't die to feed then, much less as sacrifices to gods who don't eat. And even to those, like myself, who do eat meat, all life is concidered sacred. We do not kill needlessly, and the gods we honor do not require such things as living sacrifices anymore, if they ever truly did.

Where we run into problems is the way we are viewed for our beliefs, thanks to close-minded people who see all that is different from them as "evil", as well as the "hollywood" image of witches and paganism in general.

In the following pages, I will attempt to show some of the miriad ways in which people are "living pagan" in today's world, and I will be adding links as I have time.
It is my hope that these pages will give you some insight into what it truly means to "live pagan", and maybe, if you didn't understand it before, you will by the time this section is finished.

Sincerely
