Today was a long-awaited day of rest. With such a short stay in Tasmania, it was hard for Glenn to allow a day doing nothing in particular, but I really needed it. So I found a book from one of my favorite authors that Liz had on her well-stocked bookshelf, and spent the whole day reading in front of the picture windows. Liz and Sarah puttered around the house, while Nick had hitched a ride in to town with Steve to go bike riding with friends for the day. Glenn wrote journals and amused himself, and we took Sarah for a brief jaunt into town in the afternoon to get some extra supplies for tonight's barbecue with Steve's brother Richard and his family.

When we got back from the store, Steve was home early from work to take us out sailing. I decided to skip it and finished the book while Glenn, Steve and Sarah took a short sail out of the nearby harbor. Around 6, Paula arrived with her & Richard's three kids, and we spent some time chatting with them while the BBQ was being prepared by Steve and the salad & bread by Liz. Richard would join us later due to work obligations. We ate outside, but it was a little cold & overcast out, so afterward we went back inside for more discussions. Richard came around 9pm and we got acquainted for a bit. Around 11:30pm, we were all feeling a bit worn down and went to call it a night, promising to see Richard, Paula and the kids tomorrow morning at their nearby house before we headed off to Hobart on our way out of town tomorrow. We would be sad to leave Liz, Steve, Nick and Sarah too, but look forward to keeping in touch with them via email until they or we can swing another visit!
