| Glenn's Journal for 9-26-02 - Prague Today we woke up a little earlier than usual, since we went to bed earlier than usual. We relaxed in the room enjoying breakfast and the peace and quiet before heading into town around 11:00 am. We did not really have any big plans today but to walk around town again and verify how we were getting to Vienna tomorrow. Our first stop was the bus station to see if that would be any cheaper to get to Vienna. The difference in price between the bus and the train was not worth taking the bus. We went back to the train station where we purchased our tickets to Vienna on the 10:58 am train for tomorrow. One problem solved!!! We then headed back towards the New Quarter so we could more leisurely stroll along Wenceslas Square and the shops. The weather was still not cooperating as it was rainy and cold for most of the day. We continued to walk back to the Old Town Square (can you tell we enjoyed this part of town the most) and even stopped in to the Torture Museum. Yes that is correct, the Torture Museum. This was Erin's idea, not mine, just to clarify to all of our friends. The museum was interesting to say the least and provided us with some pretty gory sights and stories. (It did manage to get us our of the rain though!!!) We contined to walk around the Old Town square where we had dinner before stopping to watch the Astronomical clock perform with a skeleton pulling the cord that rang the bell and figurines that rotated through two open doorways from above. Pretty cool clock and amazing for it's time. It was continuing to rain and it was cooling off so we called it another early night. Tomorrow was a "move" day and the train ride was scheduled to take 5 hours. We needed to get up and be out of the hostel by 9:30 am. On to Vienna!!! |
