Perth's Anzack monument remembers the Australian soldiers who died at Gallipoli in Turkey |
Glenn's Journals 11-29-02 Western Australia It is Friday morning and our last full day in the Southwest before flying off to Adelaide and South Australia tomorrow. After breakfast at McDonald's (O.K. Sometimes we splurge!!! Just Kidding!!) we made our way back to the Dolphin Discovery Center where we hoped to see dolphins along the shoreline. We arrived around 9:15 am and waited with many other tourists for the dolphins to show. By 10:45 am we realized that we were not going to see any unless we decided on taking the harbor boat out to see the dolphins. Erin agreed and by 11:00 am we were heading off on a boat to look fro dolphins. After less than 10 minutes we came across more than 20 dolphins playing along another stretch of beach. We watched as they swam in front of and along side our boat. We enjoyed every moment and could have watched them play for most of the day but our trip was scheduled for an hour. On our return to shore dolphins we racing along side the boat to show off their speed and playfullness only to turn away at the last moment. We returned to shore about an hour and a half after we had left and had seen many dolphins during the trip so we were pleased with the experience. It was after noon so we jumped into the car and continued on our way to Perth. We stopped in Mandurah for lunch and a little shopping before continuing on our way. We also called Ken to let him know that we would be arriving around 5:00 pm at the car rental place to turn in the car and verify that he would meet us there. He said he would so we were all set. The drive up the coast was uneventful as we arrived at the car rental place just at 5:00 pm. We thought we would be there a little earlier but traffic and speed limits were not taken into account. Ken was already waiting for us so we quickly paid the bill and headed home. Once at home Adele had made a wonderful dinner and Fiona and the kids were at the house as well. We shared stories about how our week had gone and all of the places we had stopped on Adele's "must see" list and spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home. We spoke with my parents on the phone one more time before we would be out of touch (at least by phone) for another spell. We went to bed around midnight but stayed up packing before we actually went to bed. We have a flight to Adelaide tomorrow morning so we need to be prepared to leave for the airport early. |
