This morning we were up early as we wanted to hit the road by 8:30 am for the two and a half hour drive to Scott's Peak road where there is a fantastic lookout over part of the Western Arthur's range and Franklin range and Mt. Solitary. Liz had checked e-mail this morning and saw an e-mail from my parents that said that our friend Stefanie was going to call us this morning at 8:30 am our time (they are 19 hours behind us on the west coast). We waited for the call and both Erin and I chatted with Stefanie (Erin enjoyed chatting with Stefanie as they have only communicated by e-mail for the past 3 months and it isn't quite the same.)

We finally got on our way around 9:30 am. The drive out provided plenty of conversation as Sarah and Nick showed us the sites along our route. We arrived around 12:15 pm which, according to Sarah, wasn't much longer than they normally take. The view was spectacular but may not be well represented by the photos as it is hard to truly capture the complete beauty of a place with digital. Liz had packed us a full lunch with sandwhiches, fruit, and liquids and, since we were hungry at this point, we stopped to eat while admiring the view.

After lunch we headed back out the way we came and stopped at the carpark for Mt Anne. We spent a few hours hiking up te mountain for another spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and lake. Nick left us all behind as he proceeded farther up the hill than the rest. Sarah stopped a few times along the path to sketch some of the beauty that surrounded us. Erin and I stopped about half way up the hill to enjoy the view. (We are not as young as Sarah and Nick)

After the hike we stopped at Mt. Fields and more specifically Russell Falls. The hike to the falls was only a five minute hike but along the way we met a ranger that was preparing a presentation on the animals found in the park. We chatted with her for a few minutes before heading on. Once we reached the falls we took photos (hopefully on this page) took in the view. Nick and I also saved Sarah from jumping into the water (Erin says that it looked like we were throwing her over the rail). On the way back to the car we stopped again where the park ranger was standing but this time there were three of them. We asked about a story we had heard about a spider that would get under your skin and eat away at your body from the inside. The rangers only laughed and told us more stories about "drop bears"  and "carniverous glow worms" that could be found in the park. The "drop bear" story was pretty funny.

On the ride home the four of us played "I Spy" and joked about "Bogans" for the full 2+ hours home. If you here Erin use the word "bogan" I will blame it on Sarah. Erin even spoke about naming our dog "bogan" but it will have to be her dog, not mine!!! Once home we had a wonderful dinner of stir fry and vegetables which was enjoyed by all. After dinner the girls challenged the boys to a game of Pictionary. Even the parents teamed up and joined us. We spent the next hour laughing our eyes out as we battled to be the supreme Pictionary team. I must say that some of the drawings left plenty to the imagination. The boys (Nick and I) finally won the game after a very close battle with the girls (Sarah and Erin) and the parents (Liz and Steve). We finally crashed around 11:00 pm.
