The Melboune Skyline at night. There were many different sets of fireworks displays that we could see from the balcony at the Anderson's. |
Glenn's Journal 12-31-02 & 01-01-03 Victoria It's New Years Eve and Erin and I don't have any specific plans for the evening. We started the day off doing chores including laundry and writing journals. It was a good day for the sorts as it was overcast and very blustery with on again off again rainfall. Erin even had to take the laundry to the laundromat to dry the clothes as it was too wet a day for drying on the clothesline. We spent the whole day doing chores and even found time for a nap before we awoke around 5:00 pm to make plans for New Years Eve. Erin was not interested in dealing with the crowds in the city center so we opted against beig up close and personal to all of the fireworks going on downtown. We did opt for a 7:10 pm movie Sweet Home Alabama. It's a "chick flick" which I rarely go see with Erin (Usually her mom goes with her) but it is New Year's Eve and a good time as any to be romantic. The movie was funny and reminded us of home back in the states. The movie let out around 9:40 pm when we then stopped into the nearby arcade and played a game of air hockey before they closed at 10:00 pm. We returned home, chatted with Elaine and John, before settling in to watch Moulin Rouge on television. Just before midnight we grabbed our glassed of champagne and went to the back deck on the second floor where you could see the city lights just glowing. The night had cleared from the rainy weather during the day so the view was spectacular. We watched the fireworks from the city for about 15 minutes before returning to watch the end of the movie. After Moulin Rouge Erin stayed up to watch another movie while I dosed in and out. We finally retired to bed around 1:30 am. Not the most exciting New Years Eve but an enjoyable one all the same!! Happy New Year!!! 01-01-03 Victoria We awoke at our usual time this morning around 8:00 am where we had breakfast and chatted with Elaine about our plans for the day. The day started off nicer than yesterday with the sun shining even though it was cooler than yesterday (16C in the morning). Our plans for today included working on journals, resizing more photos, and re-packing for our trip to New Zealand tomorrow. It was a perfect day for these activities as most things were closed today anyway. I finally caught up with journal writing while Erin resized another 100 photos or so. We plan on spending time tomorrow before we leave to update the website with everything we have. We should be close to caught up. Yeah!!! We enjoyed a wonderful pasta dinner with John and Elaine around 6:30 pm. John has enjoyed having Erin around as it provides him someone to share the wine with. Neither Elaine or I drinkk much wine so John appreciates the drinking buddy. After dinner Erin continued on her own journals while I filled out some more postcards to send friends. We finished the night playing games on the computer and watchig a little television. I called it a night around 11:00 pm as we had a busy, and long, day tomorrow. Erin joined me in bed sometime later. |
