1960 MGA 1600 Roadster "OUR MGA" NAMGAR# 574

"Céad Mile Fáilte" (A hundred thousand welcomes). We (Eric & Terri) live in the city of Nepean, just south of the nations capital of Ottawa in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. Ottawa is the home of the NHL's Ottawa Senators.

Visit the "Canada Tree" site. The Canada Tree was created by Canadian artist Tyler Aspin. The Canada Tree is a magnificent sculpture composed of woods from each Canadian province and territory. Set within this mosaic are wooden artifacts that represent the contributions of ordinary and extraordinary Canadians. This growing collection of wooden artifacts and stories, from people and places across the country are inlaid into The Canada Tree, as they are collected. The Canada Tree embodies the stories of our land, our character and our heritage. It is a towering symbol of the Canadian consciousness, and reminds us that to grow towards our future, we must draw strength from the roots of our past.

It is our priviledge and pleasure to be the owners, or should I say the current custodians / guardians of a 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster.

The MGA 1600 was produced from 1959 to 1961. Our car came off the line in May, 1960. There were 12,253 left-hand drive models produced for export to North America in 1960.

The MGA was a radical change from MG's traditional, squared off appearance. The appeal of the MGA is multi-faceted. From a mechanical standpoint it is simple and reliable. It is a comfortable (I'm 6'2", 240 lbs.) and easy car to drive. The handling is amongst the best of any of the 1950's and early 1960's sports cars. Even now, in 1999, the aerodynamic shape does not seem out of place. We have alot of fun driving the back roads and highways of urban and rural Ontario, Quebec, upper New York state and Vermont. When you jump behind the wheel and drive off, all your cares just seem to melt away. From the "thumbs-up" we get from pedestrians and drivers alike, it is obvious to us that others enjoy it, at least visually, as well.
