(1) what is mou lei
tau? the bizarre patter which made stephen chow famous
has become a kind of cult slang among youth in hong kong. called mou
lei tau, which means, more or less, "without a shred of meaning," the
slang involves the use of chow's patented obscure puns and left-handed non
sequiturs. mo lei tau kids take pride in behaving and speaking as if
nothing has meaning. some academics have associated the popularity of mo
lei tau (and chow himself) with the "deadline" of 1997, after which the
future is, to say the least, uncertain.

(2) what is a fanlisting?
a fanlisting is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject.

恭喜發財!!! happy lunar new year, everybody!

(i'm deluded and would like to think he's reading this. heehee.) also added three fans from three different countries: the US, hong kong, and a first one from chile! i don't know about you guys but it's kind of exciting that our fans came from all over the globe. welcome, y'all. =)

by the way, we're now affiliated with the eva huang fanlisting! thanks, nadine. you may remember eva as stephen's love interest, the mute girl in gong fu (kung fu hustle). i'd find the scenes with her jarring and bittersweet as the song you hear playing on the soundtrack is actually her singing.

wednesday, 30 mar 2005
i realize i haven't been updating for a month. that's because i've been spending most of march chained to a hospital bed. *sigh* don't worry. i'm okay now, as evidenced by the fact that i'm updating. haha. anyway, added another fan from singapore. fan count is now up to 56! also, we are now affiliated with the kung fu hustle fanlisting! you can see their cute code up at the splash page. it amazes me that [ mou lei tau ] has existed this long without affiliates. i'll remedy that soon enough. ^_^

friday, 10 sept 2004
added a fan from canada. we are now one fan away from hitting the 30-fan mark (which is going to be unremarkable since other fanlistings already hit the 100-mark within a second or something but i'm not going to bitter that online fans of stephen chow are so few and far between; more of him for ourselves! heh.)
monday, 06 sept 2004
added a fan from brunei. s/he commented with an "eeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeee" which makes me think of monkeys and amuses me to no end.
thursday, 02 sept 2004
body count... i mean fan count now up to 27. another fan from the US. ^_^ alright, site news: i'll be updating just monthly, not biweekly. it's not like people are joining up in droves. should i be promoting this fanlisting or something?
tuesday, 03 aug 2004

2003
so far it's just me and my sister on the list. somebody else wants to join but s/he(?) didn't have the proper code up so i e-mailed and kindly asked the person to have it up and join again. hmmm, maybe i should have affiliates to attract more visitors to this site...?
edit: minutes after i posted the above, someone joined the fanlisting. god always answers my more mundane requests. ^_^

sing jai is on the cover of next magazine no. 688 released
on may 15, 2003. he looks extremely made-up. with his poet shirt and the
"leading lady" smiling into his face, he reminds me of guys on the covers
of romance novels where they pin the half-naked hussies to their manly
chests and bend their heads down to plant a torrid kiss. not that i'm
feeling bitter about his being with that nice lady or anything. i would
rather see him with karen mok in sister turkey mode, though (18/05/03:
i stand corrected. he was wearing a bathrobe for the SMB commercial,
not a poet shirt :D). in other news, pop out those special-occasion
champagne bottles! [the fansite] mou lei tau debuts today. i have a feeling this
news page will be the only one with frequent major updates. anyone feeling
generous with their treasured sing jai pics? send them this way. unless i already
have the picture, i'll put them up on the codes page and give credit where
credit is due. cheers.
thursday, 24 apr

as one of the asian heroes of 2003, our sing
jai is on the cover of this week's issue of TIME magazine! also amazing is
the fact that he's the only pick out of hong kong. the article,
by bryan walsh, is available online. the accompanying picture on the hard
copy is the one on this site's splash page. philippine issue of TIME does
not have him on the cover though. instead, they have the local heroine, an
actress-activist, on it. i bought the magazine anyway.
