Nobuo Uematsu was born in Kouchi City in Japan on March 21st, 1959. Nobuo began to play piano at age 12, never formally taught, but by his own will and heart, he continued to teach himself. He wanted to play piano just like Elton John could.

Finishing high school, Nobuo then graduated from the University of Kanagawa and didn't major in music. When he turned 22, he joined amatuer bands as keyboard player, but he enjoyed writing the music even more then playing it. So, he became solo and sent many demo tapes out to music and record companies. Finally, radio CM hired him after reviewing one of his tapes.

In 1985, Nobuo's friend offered him a job at Squaresoft Ltd. to write music for their video games. Nobuo happily accepted. Since then, Nobuo has been working his heart out to Final Fantasy players out there, creating the most beautiful music. John Williams of the video game world, what did I tell you?

Currently, Nobuo Uematsu resides in Japan with his lovely wife, Reiko and their dog Pao. He enjoys listening to Irish music, makes and drinks beer, watches pro Japanese wresting, and is currently playing the fiddle. How nice!
