Why Dan Is A Player Spotlight:

Not only was Dan Welch selected by the webmaster of Extreme Eric to be a Player Spotlight, but a very dedicated Dan Welch fan also wanted to see Dan on here. Here are Karen's reasons:

First of all, it's about time someone finally realized what a great hockey player Dan Welch is so a BIG THANKS to Cyndi for recognizing him. Okay, so maybe he doesn't put up a ton of points like some of our star players in Manchester, but it's the little things he does on the ice that matter most. Little things like killing penalties have been on his agenda lately. Since being paired up with Jeff Guiliano on the penalty killing unit, Welch has really shown Manchester what he's capable of. Whether it's sacrificing his body to block a shot or speeding down the ice on a breakaway, he works hard from end to end on every shift. Having started this season at the University of Minnesota, I'm sure making the jump to the AHL was quite an adjustment for him. So far, I think he's done a great job and is gaining fans every night he takes the ice. He fits in well with the Monarchs and I really hope he stays here next year. You know how everyone says now that size is overrated in hockey, well, Dan Welch is living proof of that. And not only is he great on the ice, he's an absolute gentleman off the ice (which I can't say for all hockey players). Just truly happy to be here and not taking anything for granted. So for anyone who's not a fan of Dan, I hope you can get to a game and watch him play - then maybe you'll change your mind.
