We were married at the Palermo United Methodist Church, a few miles from where Lisa grew up. The ceremony was beautiful. The church was decorated with daisies. My heart raced as the hour grew near. Lisa's brother Dave and family friend Mr. Borrowman read scriptures. Communion was served. And of course, we made our vows. It was a packed house. After the cermony and plenty of picture taking, we were escorted to our reception in an early model Pontiac Grand Prix that Mr. DeLong had held onto for a number of years. The weather - well, it was pretty hot. But that didn't matter. |

Cutting the cake at our reception. |
Our reception began around 1:00 in the afternoon. We had plenty of great food, a courageous toast by the best man, Mr. Nathan Jackson, and an afternoon filled with dancing, meeting and greeting. We passed out wedding favors to all of our guests - around 150 in total. Lisa danced with her father to "Butterfly Kisses" while I serenaded my mother to "Sweet Baby James." Lisa did a great job throwing her bouquet, while I disappointed myself terribly with my sad two foot garter throw over the shoulder. The reception ended around 5:00 in the afternoon. Excited, yet exhausted, we took off and went to the local cemetary to pay our respects to Lisa's late grandparents before heading back to the house to change clothes. |
