| Dear Parents, August 12, 2002 Welcome back to school! The school year is off to a wonderful start! The children got right back into the routine of school last week! I am pleased with the children's enthusiasm for learning and their kindness to each other. They are very helpful to their friends, as well as me. Teamwork is evident among the students. Our monthly newsletters will inform you on the month's upcoming events and reminders. They will include what topics we will be learning in our subjects. This way you will always know what is going on in our classroom. I am looking forward to working with you all this year! Sincerely, Mrs. Miller Updates! 1. We are still waiting for our folders, which are on back order. We will send them out as soon as we get them. Please continue to use your child's behavior folder for everything. 2. Our Math textbooks are also on backorder. We are photocopying those pages for the time being until we get them in. Don't Forget! 1. Homework should be turned in on Fridays. Please make sure you and your child sign the homework sheet. 2. Your child's behavior folder must be signed daily in their colored box so that I know you have seen how they behaved for that day. 3. All papers that needed to be signed were due last Friday. Please turn them in this week if you have not done so. 4. Please make sure that your child brings in all school supplies. Extra! Extra! Read All About It! This month we will be reading stories from our Hello books that deal with "We share what we like". We will be incorporating spelling, phonics, and grammar skills within our stories. We will be starting our literacy centers this week. Your child will engage in activities that promote cooperative learning, reading and writing skills, listening skills, and so much more. Your child will have D.E.A.R.(Drop Everything And Read) time during center time. This is when your child chooses a book to read or to look at. I am still in the process of assessing children that I did not get to at the end of last year. Math Minutes with Mrs. Miller This month in Math, we will be learning about addition facts to 12.
