My favorite way to eat morels is deep fried.
DEEP FRIED MORELS 24 morels Larger mushrooms, cut in half lenghtwise, leave smaller ones whole. 1-1 1/2 cup flour 2 Tablespoons salt 2 teaspoons pepper 2 eggs 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk
Place flour in a pie pan or med..size bowl. In another pie plate beat the eggs with the milk. Coat mushrooms with flour. After coating all of the mushrooms, add salt and pepper to remaining flour, adding more flour if necessary. Dip mushrooms in egg mixture, than into flour mixture, coating each one well. Deep fry 7-9 minutes, drain on paper towels. Warning: Make sure you leave enough for the meal while tasting!! |
