Mrs. Pierce grew up in Gates County, NC.  After graduating from Gates County High School, Mrs. Pierce moved to Greenville, NC to attend East Carolina University.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Community Services in 2004.  After working for ECU as a Research Assistant for a large community-based research project for a little over a year, Mrs. Pierce decided to seek her teaching certification.  She then enrolled in courses and earned her K-6 teacher certification, also at ECU.  Currently, Mrs. Pierce is working towards her Master of Arts in Education in Elementary Education at ECU.  She hopes to, in the near future, earn National Board Certification and two other add-on licensures (K-12 Reading and Academically Gifted). Mrs. Pierce has taught first and second grades in Martin County, NC at East End Elementary School, as well as teaching third grade in Pitt County, NC at Northwest Elementary School. Mrs. Pierce married her husband, Nicholas, in June of 2006.  They reside in Greenville, NC with their three "children," Jake (a chocolate lab), Annabel (a chocolate and tan Chihuahua), and the newest puppy, Oliver (a rust-colored Chihuahua).

Mrs. Pierce loves to read, especially books by Nicholas Sparks and J.K. Rowling.  She also enjoys creating scrapbooks with memorable pictures and trinkets.
