| Why we like Alans | |||||||||||
| I've asked
some people why they liked their particular Alan so much. Here's what they
said. If you'd like to talk to me about one of the three Alans, please e-mail me. Which Alan do you like? Alan Cumming Why do you like this Alan? Because he's genuinely funny in a warm and lighthearted way. He doesn't seem to care how people take him. He's very much his own man. He's also quite attractive. What would you say to Alan if you met him? If you ever want someone to play your lover in a film, give me a call. Ditto Jennifer Jason Leigh. What is your most memorable experience of Alan or his work? His small role in Eyes Wide Shut, because he brought a touch of humour and difference to a film that was quite dull really. Interviewee: Craig from Ipswich Which Alan do you like? I'm all about Cumming, at least when it comes to Alans. I do think Davies is making important inroads for people with curly hair, but I don't really fancy him or anything. Why do you like this Alan? I like his impish, playful, androgynous sexuality. His collection of goody bags. And his nipples If you met Alan, what would you say to him? Do you use Benetint, or any kind of blush or cosmetics to make your nipples such a rosy pink? And oh yeah, "Fancy a shag?" What is your most memorable experience of Alan or his work? Seeing him on Broadway as the emcee in Cabaret, it's my favourite musical EVER and he struck just the right chord, in me anyway. That decadent Weimar Berlin thing is just sooooo sexy! I had friends who saw it in London and I'd heard it was terrific, and that he was great in it. So I went and thought, "My, he looks just like Brett Anderson from Suede." (And now when I see Brett Anderson I think "My, he looks just like Alan Cumming" Except he usually doesn't). I really wanted to go to the stage door and try and meet him, but really, I'd have melted into a blob of orgasmic goo. Interviewee: magic 1 from New York Which Alan do you like? All, but Rickman is my personal favourite. What do you like about this Alan? That funny squinty half scowl/smile of his. It curls my toes. And that VOICE! If you met Alan, what would you say to him? "Want a cup of coffee?" God, if he'd just say ANYTHING in that voice! What is your most memorable experience of Alan or his work? No personal encounters... But I had sex in the balcony of the Realto Theater during An Awfully Big Adventure... I think that's why his voice gives me the chills. My fave flick of his is Blow Dry because, well... he's not a fictional character, or historic... You could meet 'Phill' at the grocers. Interviewee: MzRie from the U.S. |
