My second inspirations is a seccesionist movement artist by the name of Gustav Klimt. He was heavily influenced by other culture and thier patterns including Japanese woodcuts, Byzantine scultpture, and eastern mediterainian illuminated manuscripts; I'm influenced by these as well as folk art, religious symbology, and the myriad of textile designs availible today.

I'm especially interested in using pattern to express the charachter of the subjects. as well as thier relationships which he does well.

The pitfall of Klimt is that he can overuse the gold and the geometry to  the point of rigid stylization more fitted for decorative objects than fine art in my opinion.

Gustav Klimt, "The Virgin"
From Klimt I would like to take his voluptous use of line, the underlining of sacred and magical qualities with gold, and the idea that form is not subordinate to content. Klimt was one of the first artists to successfully combine abstract and figurative painting with the patterns characteristic of his work serving to emphasize the emptier and more detailed areas devoted to face and figure; I hope to use this teqnique to my advantage as well.
