Scripture Passages...

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 119:50
My comfort in my suffering is this:
Your promise preserves my life.

Psalm 119:76
May your unfailing love be my comfort,
according to your promise to your servant.

Isaiah 25:7-8
On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces;...

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

The Other Land

It is not far away, the place to which they go,
It is just beyond the starlit skies;
it is where the moonbeams grow
And night is day and day is night and sorrow
comes no more.
Where love abides beyond the tides upon a
golden shore,
and we must wait here for awhile - until it's time
to go.
Although we carry on, we mourn, because we miss
Her so;
and through the years, God dries our tears...
He said, "My Peace I Give"

Love Between This Father and His Son
by Michelle, Mommy to Skyler
Written for Mike & Skyler and the love they will always share

The treasured love held between a father and his son is one I have witnessed from the moment it begun.
Upon hearing the words "you're having a boy" the journey began and the father's heart filled with joy.
This father would choose the name for his son and even before birth their connection was won.
No matter his difference, God had chosen this special one, to give this father to love and be his son.
The father would never complain or ask why, instead he shared love with his special little guy.
Be it morning's first light or the darkest black night, you often would find this father holding his son tight.
This son's love was spoken though speech he could not use, love can be passed and words never be fused.
The knowledge is old as the heavens are high that windows of souls are known as the eyes.
Laughter and Love, Strength and pain to, could often be seen being shared by these two.
No words or emotions could fully explain, in detail or depth, this fathers great pain as he watched life subside with his son's final breath.
This journey of Love shared by this father and his son has not with death ended but instead now has forever to grow and to run.

God’s Lent Child

I’ll lend you for a while
A child of mine God said
For you to cherish while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.

It may be for one or two years,
Or forty two or three,
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for me.

He’ll bring you charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories
As solace for grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,
Since ALL from earth return,
But the lessons that are taught below,
I want this lent child to learn.

I’ve looked the whole world over
In search of teachers true,
And from the ones who crown life’s lanes
I have chosen YOU.

Will you give him all your love?
Nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again?

I fancied that I heard them say
Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For the joy thy child will bring,
The risk of grief will run.

We’ll shelter him with tenderness
We’ll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful we will stay.

But should thy angels call for him
Much sooner than we’d planned,
We’ll brave the grief that comes to us,
And try to understand.

My Daddy and Me
by Michelle, Mommy to Skyler
Written for his Daddy

my daddy and me we would laugh and we would play
my smile without words would "I love you" i say
he would greet me each sunrise
with a smile just for me
there with his smiles in my crib i would be
he would hug me so close i could feel all his love
so i'd hug him right back showing him he was loved
my daddy would kiss me and games we would play
if it were my choice i would have chosen to stay
my daddy would kiss me and tell me goodnight
but i always knew he wasn't far from my sight
"Daddy" please know that i keep you here with me
in my love filled memories of
Daddy & Me

To Mom and Dad
Written by Derek Boyd
In memory of Joshua Mark Ruggerio
1/14/99 - 11/4/99

Don't be sad Mom and Dad, Jesus brought me home to rest,
I know its going to be hard at first, but He always knows what's best.

I know I wasn't with you long, nowhere near long enough,
But I'm at home where I can run and play and do lots of other stuff.

Jesus thought I'd had enough, it was no kind of life for me,
Don't be sad I'm perfect here just you wait and see.

I know you did all you could, you never gave up on me,
When you get here we've got some catching up to do, but we'll have all eternity.

God has something big for you Mom and Dad, but I can't give away His plan,
He needs two people just like you, A godly woman and a Godly man.

Just remember God's will is perfect, it happened the way it was supposed to be,
I'm getting the grand tour of Heaven right now, just Jesus and me.

I talked to the disciples a while ago, they just got back from fishin',
Keep winning souls for Christ Mom and Dad, that's your biggest mission.

Don't cry for me Mom and Dad, we're only apart for a while,
Someday soon we'll meet at Heaven's gates, and greet you with a smile.

I can run along the streets of gold, down by the crystal sea,
And back up on the hill at my mansion, there's a table set for three.

Gotta go for now Mom and dad, I just thought I'd drop you a line,
Don't worry Mom and Dad, I'm safe in Jesus' arms, where the sun will always shine.

Keep on marching forward as God's soldiers, through the morning, night and afternoon,
I just wanted you to know how much I love you Mom and Dad, and know I'll see you soon.
