MSU Women’s Rugby Football Club Constitution and By-Laws
Preamble The soul can only be content if a woman is both spiritually and mentally strong, as well as physically fit. Through strength, desire, pride and teamwork we can, as a club, dominate the most enduring sport known to man. With our common goals and dedication we will succeed. Let us all be strong and follow these laws and standards to ensure that women’s rugby will live on at Murray State.
Purpose The purpose of Murray State Women’s Rugby Football Club is to provide an athletic extra-curricular for all women in the MSU area. The club will provide the necessary skills to compete in a capable manner in order to represent MSU in a fashion that will bestow pride to all students and ruggers union wide.
Proclamation Structure Murray State Women’s RFC shall be governed by three individual: a President, a Match Secretary and a Treasurer. All powers will be strictly bestowed upon these officers. The President is to be responsible for the correlation of the university and the RFC, as well as to lead the club in a direction that will benefit the RFC for years to come. The Match Secretary is to be responsible for the correlation of the union (the Mid-South Rugby Union) and the RFC, as well as to assist the President in leading the team in a direction that will benefit the RFC for years to come. The Treasurer is to be responsible for the correlation of the bank and the RFC, as well as to assist the President in leading the team in a direction that will benefit the RFC for years to come.
Article One: President Section One The President of MSUWRFC is the political face of the club, maintaining relations with the university and the team. And the leader of the team to make certain that all members are in unison for the common goal of the club. Through discussion of issues and problems with the other officers, the president is responsible for delegating tasks to other members of the club, as well as assuring that the responsibilities entrusted to others are completed. The President is solely responsible for all activities and associations of the club. Everything that occurs within the club will be proposed by the President, approved by the Match Secretary and Treasurer, and then the matters will be brought before the club. The President is also responsible for arranging meetings to inform and discuss future activities and issues. The President will make certain that all members have signed the membership form in the campus recreation office stating that they are insured or have university insurance. The President will at least once a month during regular semesters make contact with the sponsoring chair of the university to assure that the university is aware of the activities and successes of the club.
Section Two The President is required to be a part of the MSUWRFC for at least one semester before being elected to the office. In a situation where the President leaves or is removed from office before the end of the given term, the Match Secretary is to call a meeting with the Treasurer and vote between eligible candidates to replace the position as soon as possible.
Section Three The responsibilities of the President that can be delegated include but are not limited to: transportation to and from away games (if university transportation is required), sleeping accommodations on road trips, meeting time and place for traveling to away games, scheduling of practice times and places, recruiting, fundraising and organization of post game parties (including location, drinks and songs). All fore mentioned responsibilities are that of the President and will be done by the President in a prompt and efficient manner if not delegated to others in the club.
Article Two: Match Secretary Section One The Match Secretary is the connection between the union, other clubs, and the RFC. She is primarily responsible for the scheduling of games, maintaining communication and good standing with the union/union head, and CIPP. The Match Secretary is to have a schedule made out and posted for the coming semester for the President and union by the last day of the present semester. The Match Secretary is responsible to keep good relations with the union by keeping in contact with the union head, as well as keeping up on all hand-outs and flyers distributed by the union and changes in policies presented by the union. The CIPP union forms and dues are to be kept up nad maintained for all members by the Match Secretary. She will ensure that for each player, all CIPP forms will be updated each semester by the third practice and finalized by the sixth practice. The Match Secretary is responsible for having forms available at all times for all club members, including but not limited to taking forms and keeping up relations to non-present and dormant members. The Match Secretary will not collect the CIPP dues, but will work hand-in-hand with the Treasurer to ensure that all members are registered.
Section Two The Match Secretary is required to be a part of the MSUWRFC for at least one semester before being elected to the office. Section Three The responsibilities of the Match Secretary that can be delegated include but are not limited to: lining the field for home games, contacting other team match secretaries to confirm game dates, times, locations and maps (for both home and away games), arranging for a referee for all home games, and making certain all equipment including game balls, touch flags and jerseys are present for the games. All fore mentioned responsibilities are that of the Match Secretary and will be done by the Match Secretary in a prompt and efficient manner if not delegated to others in the club. |
