This is my first homepage so bare with me. There is a little information about myself here, but I didn't want to include too much personel information. If you are curious about me, you can e-mail me. With that said. I enjoy writing to anyone that has intrests in Italy, Italian Language, Italian Music (rock-blues-some traditional) and of course all musicians in general. I also enjoy editing band and my vacation videos. If you have any intrests in these areas, I would love to hear from you. Specialmente se puo parlare la lingua italiana. | My Intrest in Italy |
Well in 1998 my wife and I were talking about vacations. I asked her "if you could go anywhere in the world, Where would you like to go?". She replied without hesitation "Italy". So I thought it was such a cool sugestion that I did a little research and discovered how much world history Italy has had over the centuries. It also has some of the worlds most beautiful landscapes. So we decided that if we started to save now, by the time our kids are out of school in 2004 we should have enough to go. Our dream is to stay a month or at least 3 weeks. So during the past 6 years I've been acumulating information by reading books and websites. However the real pleasure has been getting to know the Italian people through the internet. I have several friends that I have made over the years and hope to meet some of them when we go. |
| Learning Italian |
Learning another language is never easy. Especially if you don't have anyone to speak with. I have no excuses other than maybe fear of making mistakes. This has been my largest obsticale. I've succeeded in establishing a somewhat regular Italian conversation with an Italian that lives near me. I have been practicing with tapes, but I still need to practice with more people. I can read and write italian well enough to comunicate with almost anyone. My confidence in speaking the language is consistantly improving. My best advice for learning any new language is to move to that country. If you are like me and can't move. Practice every day writr letters,reading and speaking it out loud (online newspapers or articles) make your own flash cards on index cards. A good italian dictionary is an excellent source for translated phrases. I speak to my dogs in Italian and I get the same look that my friends give me. :-O |
