William Shakespeare was born in Stratford on April 23,
1564.
Church records indicate that he was baptized at the
holy Trinity church on April 26,1564.He was born to
John Shakespeare who was a leather merchant and Mary
Arden, a landed heiress. According to the church
register, William was the third of eight children,
three of whom died in childhood.
At the age of six of seven, Shakespeare attended
grammar school, which Is still standing not far from
his house on Henley St. Latin was the primary
language, although he did have some English lessons
the focus of his literacy training was on the study of
Latin authors such as: Seneca, Cicero, Ovid, Virgil,
and Horace. William was removed from school around the
age of thirteen because of his father’s financial and
social difficulties
For reasons unknown, the only way we know things about
Shakespeare’s life, are by church documents. Otherwise
it’s just an assumption
William is supposed to have worked for a butcher, in
addition to helping his father run his business.
Shakespeare’s activities after school are impossible
to trace. Suggestions that he might have worked as a
glover with his father and brother, or as a
schoolmaster or lawyer. Which all are plausible. He
studied intensity to become a master at his literary
craft, and improved his acting skills while visiting
the playhouses outside of Stratford before re-emerging
as a professional actor in the late 1580’s.But it is
from this period of having known as the “lost years”
is where we get a vital piece of information. Such as:
when he married a pregnant orphan named Anne Hathaway
on November 28,1583. He was eighteen, she was
twenty-six. Their daughter, Susanna, was born May
26,1583.They later had twins, Hamnet and Judith born
on Feb 2,1583Yet Hamnet died at the age of eleven on
August eleventh, 1596for seven years, he disappeared
from all records returning in London Circa in 1592. By
1594, Shakespeare was both acting and writing for the
Lord Chamberlain’s men, and was managing partner in
the operation as well. While he could not be accounted
wealthy. It was allowed him to purchase a new one for
him. In comfort to Stratford in 1611.the same year,
William wrote his will, bequeathing no properties to
his daughter Susanna, allegedly, he died oh his
birthday. April 23,1616. We will never be able to
replace for over 400 years later and have the same
effect as it centuries ago. “ Even in death, he leaves
a final piece of verse as his epitaph: “Good friend,
for Jesus sake forbear, to dig the dust
enclosed here blessed be the man that spares these
stones and cursed be that moves my bones.”
