Boltay Haath to participate in CSIDC 2005 World Finals (24/05/2005)

The Boltay Haath team will represent SSUET and Pakistan at the Computer Society International Design Competition (CSIDC 2005) World Finals organized by IEEE Computer Society as a top ten world finalist. The competition will take place in Washington DC from 26th to 28th June, 2005. The team reached the world finals after competing with nearly 200 teams from 109 schools from around the world.

Boltay Haath wins First Prize in SPARC 2005 (30/04/2005)

The Boltay Haath team represented SSUET at SPARC 2005 held at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi on 29th and 30th April, 2005. The prize was awarded by Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab, President MAJU.

Boltay Haath wins Third Prize in Procom 2005 (05/02/2005)

The Boltay Haath team participated in Procom 2005 all Pakistan Software and programming competition organized by FAST on 4th and 5th February 2005 and won Third prize. The project was appreciated by the vsitors as well as other participants. The Governor of Sindh Dr. Eshrat ul Ebad gave away the prizes.

Research Paper (17/12/2004)

The research paper named "Pakistan Sign Language Recognition Using Statistical Template Matching" was published in the International Journal of Information Technology during ICIT 2004 on 17 Dec 2004 in Istanbul, Turkey. Available for download in the docs section.

Poster Presentation (02/07/2004)

The poster presentation was held on 2nd July, 2004 at the Computer Engineering Department, SSUET. The event lasted two days and was covered in the local print and electronic media.
Boltay Haath posters and brochure were appreciated by the visitors. The poster presentation also served as the mid year evaluation of the final year projects of the Computer Engineering Department.

What is Boltay Haath?

Boltay Haath consists of two Urdu language words 'Boltay' which means 'Talking' and 'Haath' meaning 'Hands'. This name symbolizes the objective of our project which is to produce speech from Sign Language gestures. Some people may remember a TV show for the vocally disabled with the same name.
Other such projects had similar names e.g., GloveTalk and Talking Glove etc.
