---------------------------------------------------------------------- ( G ) SCRIPTURE AND OTHER WRITINGS As was previously shared in sections C and D, there are reports that Mr. Gibson was inspired by visionary writings and an 18th century book of mysticism in regard to developing his film script about Christs’ crucifixion. According to a WorldNetDaily report, Mr. Gibson and a co-author used two other written works along with the gospels when writing the film script. The other two written sources are: the diaries of St. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) and Mary of Agreda's book titled, "The City of God “, ( http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33461 http://aztlan.net/thepassion.htm http://www.moviecitynews.com/notepad/2003/030722b_tue.html ). So in reality, truth be told, Mr. Gibsons’ film was not purely based scriptural accounts as has been reported. This bit of contradictory information further proves an undermining of Mr. Gibsons’ statements of the Holy Ghost working through him on the film and the Holy Ghost dictating what really went into the film. Had the Holy Ghost really been the deciding factor and guiding authority as too what went into the making of the film then no other written works would have ever been used, much less even considered as source material for constructing the film script. The four gospels without the aid of other written works should have been the written source for writing the script. For one reason, the scriptures themselves reveal that God is their source ( 2 Timothy 3:16 / 2 Peter 1:20-21 ). It is the witness of those very scriptures which reveal the active personal work of the Holy Spirit of God who provides mankind with the words of God; 20. Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst. - Nehemiah 9:20 30. Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands. - Nehemiah 9:30 20. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. - 2 Peter 1:20-21 8. But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. - Job 32:8 10. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. - 1 Cor. 2:10-14 9. Then the Lord put forth his hand, And touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. - Jeremiah 1:9 It is the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit of God who through out the centuries and millenia had brought Gods’ Word to the Hebrew people via His holy prophets and to Christian converts via the apostles and disciples of Christ. The Word which God has to give to mankind has been given with the aid of the Holy Ghost, simply because the Word of God requires spiritual discernment in order to be grasped by the heart and mind of people. God is a Spirit; 24. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. - John 4:24 Therefore His spiritual Word is far above and beyond what the heart and mind of natural, sinful mankind can grasp; 8. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:8-9 The spiritual Word of God with the help of the person of the Holy Spirit searches those higher ways and thoughts of God and reveals that Word to mankind ( John 14:26 & 16:12-15 / 1 Corinthians 2:9-14 ). If Mr. Gibson were truly seeking to offer an accurate gospel depiction about the crucifixion of Christ and the hours surrounding that issue, then the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John without any aid of other written works are sufficient to provide that information. The holy scriptures themselves clearly reveal the active role of the person of the Holy Ghost in relation to providing Gods’ Word to mankind. The Word of God and the word of mankind are completely opposed to one another because God and mankind are by their inherent natures completely opposed to each other. The one is inherently holy ( Deut. 32:4 / Lev. 11:44-45 / Heb. 7:26 ) while the other is inherently sinful ( Eph. 2:1-3 / Romans 3:9-18 / Ecclesiastes 7:20 ). Because God is holy and without sin then His very Word is also without corruption and is pure ( 1 Peter 1:23 / Psalms 12:6; 19:8; 119:140 / Proverbs 30:5 ). In contrast, the mind and heart of sinful mankind is just that, inherently sinful and therefore inherently prone to fault, sin and error ( Romans 3:9-18 & 23 / Job 15:14-16 / Isaiah 64:6-7 / Psalms 14:1-3 / Prverbs 14:12 ); 9. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9 12. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. - Psalms 19:12 12. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. - Proverbs 14:12 20. For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. - Ecclesiastes 7:20 Due to sinful mankinds’ inherent wicked nature and Gods’ inherent holy nature, God is separated from mankind ( Isaiah 59:2 / Hebrews 7:26 ). With these basic scriptural evidences and parameters in mind, then the reported claims that Mr. Gibson and his co-writer made use of other written works combined with the gospels of holy scripture for putting together the film script is evidence and further proof that the Holy Ghost was not involved in any manner with the Passion film. By virtue of the fact that they, Mr. Gibson and the co-writer, attempt to combine the mystical, unscriptural writings of faulty and error prone people with the incorruptible and inerrant scriptural writings whose source is God Himself. The Holy Spirit would never give direction nor guidance to include other written human works to be mixed with the gospel accounts in the developing of a film script about the final hours surrounding Christs’ crucifixion. The Holy Ghost gave the Word of God to prophets and apostles. That holy Word is a Word which God does not permit mankind to tamper with according to our own reasoning and imagination, ( 2 Cor. 10:5 / Deut. 4:2; 12:32 / Ecc. 3:14 / Prov. 30:5-6 / Rev. 22:18-19 ). ----------------------------------------------------- |
