My Current Interests/Issues/Obsessions/Research Topics/Reading Material etc

16th November, 2003: Still working on getting this thing out to you guys! Hopefully I'll manage it today. There have been big changes since my last lot of news, I'm working for a different police force and my travelling time has gone from about 2 hours a day to about half an hour! So that's cool. I really enjoy the work too, which is a bonus!

I found out after my first week that I'm pregnant too, which is fabulous news, but it does mean I'll be giving up work! Everyone was okay about it and they've been so soppy over my scan pictures! I'm due in May 2004, so it's still fairly early days.

Other than that, I was in LA for a couple of weeks over the Summer and had a really good time. We're settling into the new house and gradually getting the nursery decorated and filled with cute stuff!

23rd June, 2003: Well, at the moment I'm working on getting the site revamped, so to speak! I'm not working at the moment as we've just moved house, from the South Coast of the UK to the outskirts of West London. I've been applying all over the place so I should get a job soon, but in the mean time I'm spending my time studying, working on my site and chasing up estate agents/financial advisers/letting agents etc!

At the moment I'm reading 'Jacobson's Organ' by Lyall Watson. It's well-written, just as all the books of his I've read have been. It's basically about our forgotten sense of smell and how pheromones etc play a huge part in our lives which we tend to ignore.

Hmmm, what can I add to my last lot of news . . .

Well, I've pretty much given up on the writing course, although I may well pick it up sometime again. There has been so much going on lately that I just can't put in enough time and effort. I'm still hoping to get published someday though.

I still use the Fortean Times Message Board regularly and it's been really interesting lately. There are new Mods and rules so things don't tend to get out of hand quite as often or to quite the same extent! It's still huge fun and really informative.

I tend to use Yahoo Messenger a lot more often now I'm home more and we've got one of those set internet packages so I can stay online for hours and we just pay a set subscription. Again, feel free to message me as much as you like.

I think that's about it then, I'll try to make the next update a bit sooner!

21st May, 2002: So, I thought I'd put up a little bit about what I'm doing at the moment, just in case anyone is interested, and mostly to make this site a little more interesting! Apparently some people even come back for a second time, so perhaps if I try to make a commitment to this, it might make that a more regular occurrence!

Well, at the moment I'm reading 'Drawing Down the Moon' by Margot Adler. I've only got through the first couple of chapters so far, but I'm really enjoying it. It's not just aimed at Pagans, so it's a good book for anyone who is interested in Paganism in general as well as Pagans. There is quite a bit in there about the origins of the current Pagan movement and its sudden increase in popularity with some theories about the reasons for this both from Pagans and sociologist etc. It gives a very well-rounded view of the subject, pulling together information from a lot of different sources and viewpoints.

Some of you may know I've started on a part-time writers course which covers selling your work as well as writing for profit. I'm really looking forward to the challenges, although I have reservations about their flexibility regarding possible topics I'm likely to cover and the sorts of publications I subscribe to! Nothing dodgy, but their 'success stories' all give examples of people having articles published in 'Knitting Weekly' and 'Readers Digest', and I'm hoping to make some submissions to Fortean Times which is the only magazine I subscribe to regularly. My subscription to Skin Deep has just lapsed, and I can't really afford to renew it just yet. Still, I have hopes!

I've been fairly active on the Fortean Times message board recently, and things have got a little heated at times, for which I apologise to those of you who witnessed that. Basically someone was questioning my suitability to work for the Police and was assuming that I was not trustworthy due to being Pagan. There were also some comments about my 'recruitment campaign' which I didn't really understand, but those of you who are planning on being subverted can join my forum of dark arts and become one of my minions by joining my Yahoo club for Pagans in the Police Forces . . . the link is on the main page, I think.

I use Yahoo Messenger from time to time, if it's one of the rare occasions I'm online for longer than it takes to send emails. You can keep an eye on me using this little gadget:

And feel free to send me messages etc, I got over my chat-room addiction, but I still like to hear from friends online.

Other than that, business as usual. Recent news is that I passed my driving test, second time lucky, and better late than never etc! I'll try to keep this page updated, it'll basically be a place for me to put any news or whatever, or to tell you about books I'm reading. So keep checking, I may manage to do something interesting someday, and you'll be the first to know!
