Youth Educational Contests Rules

All entries must have rabbits as the central
focus.
·
Youth may enter only one item in each class (for
example, a youth member can enter one poster and one display).
·
Entries in poster, photography, creative
writing, and arts and crafts must have been created in the 12 months prior to
the show. These entries must be checked
in at the Youth Educational Contest table by 9:00
p.m. on Friday, April 1.
·
Youth competing in best dressed bunny,
showmanship, written test, and speaking must be signed up at the Youth
Educational Contest table by 9:00 p.m. on April 1, and be present to compete on Saturday, April 2. Time and location for these contests will be
posted at the Youth Educational Contest table.

Contests will be broken into age divisions for
judging. Age will be determined as of April 1, 2005. Age divisions:

Ribbons will be awarded by placement (1st,
2nd, 3rd, etc.), with a champion exhibit from each
category, regardless of the age division (example, best photo from all photos,
color and black and white).
·
Sweepstakes award will be given for each age
division for overall most points in educational contests. Sweepstakes winners will be announced at the
banquet on Saturday evening.

damage or loss.

Informational Poster or Display

Exhibit or Display (please specify dimensions)
Category B: Photography
·
Photo can be any size up to 8x10; photo should be
mounted on matt board or foam board; frames and glass not recommended. Velco will be attached to the back of the photo at the contest for display purposes. Names and age should be written on the back of the photo.
·
A photo story should be 6 to 9 photos mounted on poster
board or matt board that tell a story; with or without captions.

Category C: Creative
Writing
·
Must be written by the entrant; entrant may have
assistance with typing the entry; may be illustrated. Name and age should be on a cover page that will be covered for judging purposes.

Visual Art
·
Drawing or painting; recommended to be mounted on
poster board or matt board; frames and glass not recommended. Name and age should be on the back of the entry.

·
The 4-H Showmanship Guidelines will be used as an evaluation tool.

·
Maximum time 12 minutes. Contestants will be judged on presentation and content.

May be an individual or a team of two; age division determined by eldest.
Category H: Written Test
·
Written test will cover information from, but not exclusively, the ARBA Standard of Perfection, Domestic Rabbits Journal, and the National Mini Rex News. Questions will evaluate knowledge of the breed as well as information about the National Mini Rex Rabbit Club.
