Self-Realization Archives Where Oh Where?? |

Yes, yes, yes, I am ashamed to admit it, but I am a smoker. Before you write me a nasty e-mail about what it does to my body, and especially my mouth and lungs, I do know the ramifications that it has on me. I didn't start smoking until I was 21 years old. So really I haven't been at it all that long. And I hate it... that's right, I hate being a smoker. I want to quit, but as you know there is the addiction thing happening, and its really tough. I don't even like the taste of cigarettes, which is why I always have a Coca-Cola or some beverage when I smoke, and when I am done, I usually pop in a Certs mint. The only problems with me quitting is that almost every one of my friends smoke. Its hard to stop something when you see your friends enjoying it. If I happen to be with a friend that doesn't smoke, and I hang out with a lot of non-smokers, it never really crosses my mind. Here's something that you might have not known... 90% of teenagers start smoking because of peer pressure. However if they make it to 18 years there is a 95% chance they will never smoke. As well, 90% of the people between the ages of 18 and 25 who also suffer from some sort of depression will find some sort of unhealthy habit... whether be it cigarettes or something else. There's the marketing ploy the tobacco companies should go after. |
