----------------------------

She silently looked out the window. Sometimes you make
mistakes so big
that you can’t help but regret them in a black,
thoughtful mood. She
hated the stupid way she was always so afraid to feel.
So afraid to admit
that she needed help. She needed his help.

Please come now I think I’m falling
I’m holding on to all I think is safe
It seems I found the road to nowhere
And I’m trying to escape

She stared into the emptiness and instantly regretted
her decision. He was the
love of her so-called life. She should have jumped at
the chance to love him.
To be with him. She bit her nail. Then she heard a
gentle knock on the door.
She felt a tingle in her insides, and she knew that it
was him. The one that she
always wanted.

I yelled back when I heard thunder
But I’m down to one last breath
And with it let me say
Let me say
Hold me now

Buffy opened the door and stared at his face. He
looked pinker.
Brighter. More alive. She stumbled backwards.

He smiled at her, and his teeth shone like the stars.
"It’s happened, Buffy."

She touched her cheek in disbelief. He was alive. Her
Angel. Alive.

I’m six feet from the edge and I’m thinking
That maybe six feet
Ain’t so far down

"I’m alive," he said, confirming her thoughts.

She touched his chest and felt the faint beating of a
real live human heart. She smiled to
herself. She had dreamt about this day. Romanticized
what would happen. It
was so surreal.

I’m looking down now that it’s over
Reflecting on all of my mistakes
I thought I found the road to somewhere

"I know I said that I would stay away-" he started.

She clutched him in her arms. "I love you," she
whispered.

He pressed her to his chest. "I know."

"I’m so lost," she said as she looked into his eyes.

He smiled slightly. "No, you’re not. You’re human. You
aren’t supposed to have all the
answers all the time. And everyone expects that out of
you. But you’re not
supposed to be like that."
