Characters
Marlow - The main character in the strory, also the narrator for the majority of the story.  Through his experiences he becomes skeptical of imperialism.
Kurtz - The head of the inner station, and the main goal of Marlow's journey.  Exhibits a powerful influence on the people he's around.  Extremely involved in the inhumane practices in the Congo.
Accountant - A very efficient worker who keeps himself very clean.  One of the few people who seem to accomplish anything.
Cannibals - Natives that are part of the crew.  They act very civilized for being cannibals and rarely cause problems.  Respected by Marlow.
Manager - Head of the central station.  Produces uneasiness in those around him. 
Helmsman - A young man who was trained to pilot the steamer.  He is killed form an attack by the natives.  His shoes are significant.
